I don't see Hall moving right now for two reasons: 1) I can't see MacT actually being crazy enough to trade Hall but if he is then 2) the asking price will be so high that few teams would be willing to make the move.

Edmonton needs to fill a few holes, most notably a top end D-man, #1 goalie and a top 6 forward to replace Hall. So I think you start with a top prospect (or two) a high draft pick (or two) and at least 1 proven young top 6 player.

So take the NYI for example, I think you're looking at Strome, Reinhart, Dal Colle and a 1st. Now, you may say "Woah that's way too much for one player and he isn't Crosby", and you're not wrong, however Hall is one of the best LW in the game and he's 23. So you're getting a franchise player who is still 4-5 years away from his prime at a very reasonable cap hit. In other words, you overpay ten times over.

You are correct, it will take a ransom to get Hall. As an Islander fan, yes he would look great next to tavares and okposo, but no way I would want to trade the young core of Strome Reinhart, Dal Colle, and another 1st round pick.

You name all the things the oilers need but don't trade for any of them. We need more NHL players not prospects
