*Flyers retain 2.5 million of DeAngelo's expiring contract (50%)


Toronto looking to shake up the culture and chemistry on the Team and a proposal like this does that, DeAngelo I will admit might be an issue but any problems that have happened in the past is because he is a passionate player and puts his all on the ice.

Flyers both retooling and rebuilding does both in this proposal, WNylander along with Lafferty is the retool and Liljegren and NRobertson would be a part of the rebuild.

Don't want DeAngelo anywhere near the Leafs. Locker room cancer, publicity nightmare, the list goes on. Tonnes of players in the league who are passionate and put their all on the ice who have not said the things he has. Konecny and Laughton would be welcome additions to the team though if there was ever a way to get both of them.

Ok so what has DeAngelo said that makes him a cancer on a Team?
Again I know he is a hothead etc. But he does bring something to a Team talent wise every Team looks at getting, and he only has one year left on his contract which means if he doesn't workout he can walk after next season or even trade him during the season, DeAngelo isn't the main players involved but if he keeps it under control Toronto has added a Top Offensive Defender on the blue line.

I agree with what MG says, but I’ll add that there’s no surprise that the deal only suits the leafs without considering what a rebuilding team like PHI would need.

Nylander’s last year before becoming UFA isn’t valuable to a rebuilding team.

Pinball he was suspended a few times in juniors for uttering racial slurs at opponents and his own teammates. Yes that was years ago, but do you want that to be the topic of discussion after every single game for the Leafs because the Toronto media will absolutely destroy him for it and thus the publicity nightmare would begin. He also started a handful of fights and tension in the room while in New York. Great offensive dman not great defensively and his past will be nothing but a distraction. Like you said he's a hothead as well. Last thing the Leafs need is unwanted penalties at crucial times in the game.

Chickenfoot it depends. If they have the space and can retain 50% on him and if he's having a good year offensively they could get a haul at the deadline for him. A lot of ifs on that though so I don't seem them being interested really unless they want to be the ones who grossly overpay him with an extension lol.

Why on earth would the flyers want Nylander.

I’d love DeAngelo tho he’s exactly what the leafs need. I’m sure the soft liberal Toronto fans would have a fit when someone with a little bit of personality joins the team. Unlike most of wimps out there today I think he’s strong enough to survive the media backlash.

MG that's wrong he didn't start fights his teammate did, he just didn't back down. Gerogiev also swung on him first and he fought back. The reason why people certain teammates have had issues with him is he calls out BS and isn't afraid to disagree.

May be the case, but like I said it will be a distraction to the rest of the team. No doubt in my mind he could handle the media in Toronto, but ask yourself if the MLSE would wants the heat that would come with it. Media is awful everywhere and I based my post off the articles I read. I think he is a great offensive dmen, but I do ultimately think his past will be brought up so frequently throughout the season that it would end up being a distraction.

Is that cancel culture? Lol let the guy play hockey. Usually GM’s ask around before making trades anyways so if he does get dealt I’m sure he had guys vouch for him.

EBS: I’m surprised you think cancel culture has anything to do with Deangelo. At the very least he is an obnoxious team mate that can’t get out of his own way. When teams terminate contracts with a player it’s a red flag. When you can’t stick with a franchise because your team mates say he goes or I go, it’s another red flag. When people suggest that a player like that is not getting treated fairly, or is a a victim of cancel culture, that’s also a red flag.

I never heard anything about teammates saying he goes or they do. You don’t want him on your team because of some tweets and a fight with a teammate, that might have been caused by him or might not have been. Teammates fight all the time. Philly doesn’t care about team chemistry or do you just not know all the facts?

Facts for EBS:

- Kreider and other leaders on NYR gave management the “he goes or we go” ultimatum.

- suspended by NYR for work ethic and team-related issues

- history of unfortunate social media use, including challenging one fan to fight in front of MSG before the team made him remove the posts.

- history of racist, misogynistic, and homophobic comments, including an 8-game suspension in Junior

- altercations with refs in Junior and NHL

- last but not least, the very fact he’s a talented player whose on his 4th team in 6 seasons seems to indicate to even the casual fan that despite his talent, he can’t seem to stick with a team.

You asked for facts and they’re not hard to find. His issues are well documented and aren’t a surprise to even a casual fan. You seem to know your hockey so I’m surprised any of this is a surprise to you?

Again I’m not going to blindly believe the ultimatum by teammates thing. Biz is the most famous and loved hockey guy because of his insane Twitter. Lol I actually didn’t know about the Junior stuff so yeah not a good look but maybe he’s grown up since he was a teenager? Carolina is rumoured to be trading for him, it would be telling if a former team wants him back.
