Is Eichel worth an 8 year - $9M per year extension right now already?
That's a big rumor right now.

I've seen sources suggest he'll get more than McDavid, because Buffalo minus Eichel is worse than EDM minus McDavid (since no Draisaitl, etc on BUF) . Doubt he gets 13 or so, but would at the very least expect double digits as well.

I could see an 8 yr US$64 million given to Eichel. McDavid is not worth US$12.5 a season. Despite winning individual trophies, McDavid has not won a Stanley Cup with Edmonton. GM Chiarelli is an idiot and should be put away into an insane aslylum for the ridiculous McDavid contract and throwing the salary structure in the NHL out of whack as a result.

Mcdavid is worth 15 if he wanted. Going to be the best player in the league for 10-12 years. My guess is 8years/ 80 mill for eichel and Matthews will be 8years/ 84 next year. To say chirelli screwed up is rediculous. He would have hated to do it but would have had to sign him for 15 mill. When you get a player like that, you just beg for mercy and get the number as low as possible without pissing him off and then move on with the rest of business.

Eichel does not deserve that much, although he may get it. He is only worth around 7-8 mil. Same as draisaitl, very comparable players. I'd even give a slight edge to draisaitl.
