Just valuewise.
Idk if Vancouver wants to give him away but he would make a nice 1st pair with Klingberg. Dallas gets rid of Niemi without a buyout. Vancouver can afford him as a backup 1 year until his contract is over. Then they have the 3rd and 6th pick in this years draft for a solid future.

But maybe Vancouver wants to keep Edler to mentor their young D (Stecher, Hutton, Juolevi...) until they are completely nhl ready.

Terrible. Dallas just keeps the pick and buys out niemi. They would lose 1.25 cap space for 2 seasons. No big deal for them.

Especially with bishop signing for less than 5 mill. I was sure he'd be in the 6.5 range.
