Rangers don't have a 2015 first. Although that doesn't matter that's a bad deal for them and LA will never give up Pearson for scraps so don't count on that either

Richards is still fairly serviceable and by taking on his contract(which is cheaper than Phaneuf's) we would be getting a young player in Pearson for less than fair value for doing LA a favour. Plus it somewhat fills both teams needs.
