They don’t get a young player though, they come out net zero in terms of young players and give up the one that’s shown the most.

Anyone care to share why they disagree with my comment? I’m actually just curious. Howden and Pul are the same age from the same draft class so they don’t add a young player, they replace one. Howden went straight from junior to NHL and stuck with the team all year putting up more points than Pul did in his best NHL season. Howden is a two way center who can chip in the bottom 6 while Pul has a higher ceiling but won’t be able to handle that bottom 6 role if he can’t get his scoring up to speed. I said nothing about trade value or who would say no, just that Rangers don’t add a young player in this deal and there’s an argument to be made that Pul isn’t an upgrade over Howden depending on what you’re looking for.

Rangers got 3 decent centers already in zibanejad, chytil and strome and howden will 4th line

If they add pulju they get younger as group To build around, Top 3 RW on the team will all be under 21.
