Bozak, Leivo, 5th-2017
for
Ho-Sang, VandeSompel

Islanders get a quality faceoff man which they need with a young winger and a pick
Leafs get a couple of prospects, one of which has worn out his welcome and needs a change

Gardiner, Johnson
for
Dunn, 3rd-2018

Blues get a semi-young defenceman who can help with the offence if/ when Shattenkirk is traded and a good young prospect
Leafs get a good young prospect

JVR, Loov
for
Dumba

Wild have an abundance of dmen and adding even more scoring will make them contenders
Leafs get a young 2way dman

Michalek, 7th-2017
for
6th-2017

Reasons:
Leafs drop some salary as well as young players who may need to be protected in the draft. They now can take on bigger/ bad contracts and young talent.
Leafs won't contend this year so another high lottery pick will only help

Protected
Nylander, Kapanen, Brown, Kadri, Komarov, Shoshnikov, Rychel
Reilly, Carrick, Dumba
Andersen.

Babcock, shanny and Lou are all about character and work ethic. Don't see ho-sang interesting them. Also I could be wrong but I don't believe soshnikov needs to be protected. The rule is more than 2 years of North American pro. He split last year with ahl and NHL but was in Europe before that. If European pro counts as years towards expansion then you should have zaitsev protected for sure. Also I was shocked to see that michalek was only 31. Seemed so much older to me, but he might be able to pot 20 goals on a young team and fetch you a better return at the deadline than including a 7th to get you a 6th.

This coming year would be year 2.
Its not Michaleks points but salary that drops his value.

1st trade: NYI decline because they are already deep at center with Tavares, Nelson, Cizikas, and Barzal. Bozak would likely play 4th line and NYI are just giving up to much for him. Also NY already has 2 very promising LW prospects. I think they would rather keep Vande Sompel and take a chance on Ho-Sang for 1 more season. I also think Toronto would decline for the reasons Unbiased Jim said.

2nd Trade: I could see St. Louis liking Gardiner but not for what they would be giving up. IMO Gardiner is not worth a good D prospect and a 3rd. Johnson adds almost no value.

3rd Trade: Seems fair. Meets both teams needs quite well. Maybe Toronto adds a small pick.

4th Trade: Toronto should just hold onto Michalek for now and if he has a decent season they can get a better return for him. Assuming a team is actually willing use a spot to protect him. As it is I would be better for the leafs to hold onto him.

The Dumba trade I don't think would happen, I believe Toronto would have to give up a bit more. JVR is a solid Top 6 forward but Dumba is a really solid Top 2 Defenseman in the league right now.

Blues decline, dunn has been tearing it up. He will be the off inside threat on th lHD side for years to come replacing jaybo or gunnerson.

Gardnier and Johnson do not fill a need for blues. We have parayko to take shattenkirk place and Jordan smaltz after a great year in ahl is ready to take third line duty.

When vince dunn is ready he will be a much needed replacement on our lhd side. Not worth trading.

*more than 2 years before you need to be protected. So soshnikov would only have 2 years, meaning you don't have to protect him anyway.
