With l. a. and pittsburgh reportedly looking for defensive help, and after reading an article saying they have interest in russel.

I thought of return value. Cgy will want a first round pick for russel. This isn't a strech given polak and spaling got two seconds.

Pittsburgh i don't believe has a forst after the kessel trade. So perhaps:

To cgy:daniel sprong
To pittsburgh; russel

OR

To cgy:L. A.1st rnd pick or tanner pearson +4th
To L. A:russel.

Ladd got a top prospect, a 1st, and a conditional 3rd bcuz he was the top forward. Russel is the top dman. If polak and matthias can get two seconds. russel can get a first +. Yes i'm a flames fan but market prices rise and fall based on previous recent trades. Same goes for contracts when players sign them. Value is all comparable.

Value depends on what teams will give up not past trades. At the end of the day if a team isn't willing to give up a first you won't get one. And Russell best D man? He's not even that good. A team giving up a 1st + would highly regret it.
