If your team got the 1st overall pick who would you prefer Eichel or McDavid?

McDavid , especially after Eichel was whining and complaining to the referees for the last 5 mins against Russia.

I would almost rather have the 2nd overall pick personally because I feel that they are pretty much neck and neck. All depends on the team picking I guess.

It's a very tricky situation. Do you think there would be a team picking Hanifin first overall? I'd pick McDavid.

good question, though I have heard a few analyst say that the clear #1-#2 choice is McDavid or Eichel and everything else after that is on the next tier.

No but I think he's outright #3 for me anyways terrific skater, sharp 1st pass and good all around player.

Yeah I don't disagree that he goes third, I am just saying that if he were to go 1st overall, the team selecting him would be picking the 3rd best player 1st.

@THEGR81 Agreed. McDavid or Eichel will be picked 1 and 2 for sure. The question is more like, will a team (EDM) trade down to 3rd to grab up Hanifin to adress their needs?

EDM has 1st oa. Trades the 1st oa. to the team with the 3rd oa. For the 3rd oa and 2c with potential or sth like that?

I think a Scenario like that would help them more then picking McDavid first.

Gotcha. Yeah maybe, I mean if you're Buffalo and you're sitting at 3rd, with 3 picks in the 1st they could make a move.

If I am Edmonton though (or any team looking to move down) I am looking for a top 5 pick + a young top 6 forward with 1st line upside OR if it's a later 1st, then a top ranked D prospect and a young forward with 1st upside.

The top three will be:
1. McDavid
2. Hanifin
3. Eichel

McDavid should go #1 regardless of team needs, he will make the most immediate impact on a team with many needs.

I agree that McDavid goes first. The question was is there a team that would trade down to 3rd because of their teams Needs or not.

@benn14 I don't think who ever wins the top pick will trade down because of the promising value of McDavid has.

McDavid to Edmonton, Buffalo or any team in the lottery will instantly become a fanchise piece to build around.
