Trade
SJS Ferraro 25% retained and Rutta for Liljegrin and Timmins and 1st and 3rd (NYI)

Fire Keefe if possible hire Joe Quenville ( #2 playoff wins) if not #tucker for coach

Ideal Roster format in my opinion.
Bertuzzi Matthews Robertson
Jarnkrok Domi Marner
Knies Tavares Nylander
Mcmann Kampf Gregor

Reilly Rutta
Ferraro Brodie
McCabe Benoit

Scratches Giordano, Jones

Depth: Lagesson homberg

Samsonov
Woll

I think this spreads out the talent across three lines and are defensive responsible lines. ( only switch I might do is Nylander and Robertson) also think gives Tavares advantage as 3c over other competition and helps brodie as a 4.

Would probably add additional Depth/ grit
Such as Kastelic, Mccbain, Max Jones, Pezzetta, Bastian, *might be upgrade.

“Joel” Quenville, and SJ declines.

Chickenfoot why does SJS decline they are getting 1st for a defencemen who would normally get a 2nd and Liljegrin a young proven nhler, serviceable timmins. Rutta will not help them in the next 5 years. So 3 for him.

Quantity doesn’t replace quality.

If any team offers a 1st for Ferraro then San Jose jumps on that. Rutta cleared waivers 2x this season.

BM4: I appreciate that you're a die-hard fan of your team, and that the explanation you requested wouldn't be of much use. You're a true believer. But simply put, this is a "homer deal". The eventual return for the player will dwarf what is offered here.

The reality is that there are more issues to fix in Toronto than there are tradable assets available. Does Treliving make trades for optics just to satisfy the fan base, knowing they're not able to contend? In my opinion it would be a waste of assets, and the leafs are already low on draft picks and prospects.

The real opportunity to address the leafs' areas of need was when they re-signed Nylander rather than trading him for what they needed. I'm not breaking any news when I say they have too many NTC contracts, and too many high salaries, without enough tradeable assets to do anything to help improve what is a flawed roster build.

Complicating the current sitation is the brain fart by Rielly, and his inevitable suspension. They're currently in a wild card, but with the Sergachev injury they had a chance to build a cushion against Tampa. They'll likely lose Rielly for 6-8 games, in what was an incredibly selfish play that will hurt his team in the stretch run.

6-8 games? You’re kidding right? That wouldn’t even be a penalty in 2005.

VB:

- the hearing is today, so we'll know if 6-8 games is accurate or not. (It's 5+ for an in-person hearing, so let's just say that I'm confident that I am right and you are wrong. again. )

- a cross-check to the head after a goal has ALWAYS been a penalty. at least. (Are you new to hockey? )

- head shots have always been a thing, even in 2005, such as the 6-game suspension Eric Boulton got for elbowing Paul Ranger in the head.

Personally think it should’ve been 4 games. I think most people loved the whole play. But 2005 is irrelevant and Parros is impossible to guess. Gallagher should’ve gotten double what Reilly got IMO.
