Kasperi Kapanen to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Samuel Girard.

I was debating between Zadorov and Girard, but I feel as though Kapanen has enough value to pull in Girard. Considering Colorado is likely going to draft Bowen Byram with #4 [I don't think they'd pass on him since Turcotte's likely going to be gone], they'd have Makar/ Byram/ Barrie/ Zadorov/ Timmins/ Johnson/ Girard as their defence in the future.

Since Colorado could use some scoring aside from the top line, Kapanen could work alongside Kerfoot as solid secondary scoring. And really, it doesn't hurt Colorado's blueline, nor does it hurt Toronto's wing depth.

I think it’s probably close. The expansion draft might give Colorado some incentive to trade a D since they have over 4 quality guys.

I like Kappy but I doubt Colorado bites. Girard is more proven and younger so it's kinda hard+ a defensemen wich means he hasn't fully develop yet. Wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a 40+ point defensemen.

first of all byram won't be passed by chicago, so that kinda ends everything you were saying about their future. second i don't watch girad enough but i do like kap, so maybe is close? interesting post though.
