Oilers need a right hand dman to play the power play. There is no room for that with all the defence contracts. By trading Russel, Oilers, for example, can sign Green to a 2 year contract until Bear is ready.
Sens need defence, and Russel could give them some good shut down defence.
Plus, both have similar contracts (money and term) .

If sens were to trade Smith (which they should) , they would trade him to save money . cause were cheap af.

I’d do it on Edmonton’s side only because there isn’t room for one of Sekera or Russell maybe as of next year.

But can’t see Russell waiving his clause especially for Ottawa.
