Bob Stauffer (Oilers insider radio personality) recently commented about the Oilers looking at adding a scoring RW, preferably with term, either after the Xmas break or before the deadline (which I realize is essentially the same thing) . He didn't name any names but Stauffer has a dendancy to hint at things that end up actually happening so I'm wondering if something is already in the works. Many fans pondered bringing Iginla back to his hometown (ish) to finish his career, others reco'd players like Bobby Ryan. My thought was Gustav Nyquist. He's having an off year after a stellar one last season, but has proven he can score. Detroit may finally miss the playoffs for the first time in forever, and he has 2yrs left on a contract whereby a NMC kicks in at the end of the season. With Datsyuk gone and Zetterberg on the down slide of his career, maybe they are finally ready to restock.

Curious if folks see it as a plausible move, what it might take to get him, or if there are more viable options to consider instead.

I had a couple ponders, tho not at great length, re: proposals. They were:

To EDM: Gustav Nyquist
To DET: 2nd 2017, 3rd 2018, Griffin Reinhart

or

To EDM: Gustav Nyquist
To DET: Anton Slepyshev, Caleb Jones, 2017 4th

In mockery of Pinball: Thoughts?

Idk just seems like bits and pieces for a proven scorer in Gus. Need to give something the wings would actually want, i don't see them being great trading partners.

You're probably right, BJ. My proposals are likely full of hesitation since I'm not going to be convinced that the Oilers make the playoffs this season until they actually MAKE the playoffs. A 1st might be necessary to get Nyquist, along with additional add-ons. That said, if the deadline is near and the Oilers are still in the position they're in now, what about 2017 1st, 2018 3rd, Anton Slepyshev for Nyquist?

DET would either want a top 4 D or picks and in the first trade they get picks and possibly a future NHL D. I don't think Slepyshev is someone they need or want. With the expansion draft coming it'll probably be a buyers market. If they plan a rebuild then I don't think it's too bad.

Yeah I think OIlers would need to add the first for him and I think they'll sneak into the playoffs. Still seems a bit early for them to trade t away tho.

As a Wings fan I'm surprised you guys think that highly of Nyquist, he's not very good 😅.
