I think those trades are bad that the flames don't need holes in the lineup to get rid of players that will work this year and a couple prospects. Most of those players' contracts are up this year anyways.

At this point, there is no point in trading Wideman, instead, keep him as he has the capabilities to have a good season and get solid value back. There is no point in trading Smid, when his contract is going to be buried on the LIR, when to do so, you have to give of a solid prospect for nothing. MacDonald is a solid goalie prospect, no reason to give him up to get rid of a 4th liner. Engelland proved to be a capable 6th defenseman last year, no point in dumping him with only one year left on his contract. And finally no point in dumping Bouma when his value is at an all time low after an injury pagued season.
