Those trades are really good for Pittsburgh but I'm not sure about the other teams.

As much as Kane has his issues and I think Buffalo will be happy to see him go, they won't take a package like that unless it drags on all year. I'm sure they feel they can still get an ounce of value for him. And that package is low if the pens were taking the whole cap hit. To ask them to retain 50% for 2 years isn't going to happen unless the players/ picks coming back justify doing it.

You don't retain a players salary if he is still good. Kane might be bad off the ice, but because of how he plays on the ice buffalo won't retain salary. I think the proposal itself isn't too far off other then the salary.

The New York one is bad, New York gets screwed cap wise because Kunitz's contract is awful.
