The Leafs recently traded away Christopher Gibson.
and their goalie prospects get thinner.

Oilers:
- future considerations

Maple Leafs:
- Keven Bouchard

Bouchard doesn't look like he's anything special, but the Oilers' goalie prospect pool is full.

(Laurikainen,Navelgroot,Papirny,Brossoit, Frans Tuohimaa, Miroslav Svoboda)

Bouchard can play in the ECHL, and the Leafs can see how he does. If the organization can turn Bouchard into a Garret Sparks, this would be a good trade.

@BJ96

When did I say it was supposed to be massive?
Not all trades are blockbusters.

NN21i like your thought process because it's not a big trade. Everyone tries to hit home runs you didn't. Good trade

Bouchard is years away from being anything legit and even at his peak he likely won't come anywhere near the NHL. Leafs are better off hunting young goalies in Europe like the Oilers did with Laurikianen (who may actually have a shot at the NHL in a 4-5 years)

Those Europeans weren't drafted for a reason.
Bouchard was drafted, so the Oilers saw something in him

@nn21
If they weren't taken in the first or 2nd round, it's hard to argue that a team "saw" something in them. They attempted to address an area of issue, but do you know the odds of a player outside the 2nd round making it to the NHL? They aren't good. At all. Sure, it happens, but Bouchard hasn't shown anything to indicate he is a diamond in the rough.

And while the odds of a player signed from Europe outside of the draft making it aren't good either, Laurikianen looks like a much better bet than Bouchard.

@Chirp

I definitely agree.
