LA management responded by saying that Cox was very mis-informed and that a deal such that he mentioned was never close.

Probably Nonis phoned up Kings GM saying, "Hey Mr. Kings GM, we here at Toronto feel that you might be willing to give up Tyler Toffoli (along with some other bits) for Joffrey Lupul? Maybe we could work something out." And the Kings GM was all, "Nah bro. We like Toffoli. Keep Lupul." and Toronto said "Ok, see you around next time. Thanks for Bernier." And the Kings GM was all "No problem bro. See you around." And then they hung up. And Damien Cox made a huge deal of it about six months later.
