Vancouver Active Rebuild and Contending Next Year

Vancouver: RW Niklas Jensen and Van's 2014 1st round draft pick (6th)
Winnipeg: LW Evander Kane and their 2014 3rd round draft pick (69th)
-Vancouver is missing a player like Kane on the 1st line. If Kane can smarten up then I think he can be awesome with the Sedin's. I think this is a fair package for a player of Kane's calibre. Willing to add a bit more for Kane but not a lot.

Fire HC John Tortorella
Hire Peter Laviolette
-Vancouver is not built for Tort's style of play, Laviolette's system is more like AV's and I think it would be beneficial to bring him in to get the team back on track. Plus there are rumours that Tort's has lost the locker room.

Buyout LW David Booth
-Underperformed and is a waste of cap space and a roster spot. Either trade him or buy him out.

I think this year was an anomaly. Between injuries, Tortorella overplaying the stars, players underperforming and Gillis's circus there was just so much going on.
I think this team still has some juice left and maybe a cup run still in them. If everyone has an above average year, this team is looking good.
If by next years trade deadline, van is a bubble team they should be sellers. Trade Kesler, Edler, Tanev, Hansen, burrows etc.

A rebuild means to trade players for picks. Selling whatever playoff contenders may want from your team for their picks or prospects. This is just a minor shake up. HC change and changing one player will not make them a contender. But that may just be my opinion

How is that rebuilding? to rebuild they need as many good young prospects as possible. I'd say they should trade Kesler and something for E. Kane. that way they keep their 6th overall pick and they get a great RW.
