Oh my, that's the worst trade I've ever seen. Not only do they give up Mantha and a third for a nobody, they're only save 3.5 millions for a year. There is NOWAY that Detroits does that.

I think that if the Savard contract was taken out, it would be closer. There is no need for the Savard contract to be added. New Jersey is still $9 million under the cap floor. I do agree that this is awful for Detroit, but Quenneville has 2nd line forward potential, as does Mantha.

Devs I know John personally and I do also agree he has 2nd line potential, but I don't think he's going to be that for a few years. He could crack the lineup (25%) this upcoming year but he will be 3rd line if most, he will most likely end up in the A.

Minnesota gets the true 1st line center they need to take that next step for a cup run and they get a 2nd round pick that could be used to trade up in the draft in a trade after.
Pittsburgh gets a top tier 2nd line center, a top 4 potential shut down defenceman that ca also work the power play.

Winnipeg doesn't need a tendy they have comrie coming up and hellybucyk for now.

I absolutely think malkin will get traded. imo Pittsburgh has the worst prospect pool in the nhl besides Pouliot and spring they got no one. And they have no picks in the 1st in a deep draft this year. I think malkin moving will benefit the pens in the long run.
I think they can get a top tier 2c, top level prospect and a mid first round pick hence my Minnesota trade.
