So dumb. Never would they just give him away AND retain that much. Would be the dumbest decision ever to just carry $2M in dead money for that many years. If you replace Lucic with a $4M guy or so you're still technically then paying him $6M. Unless you can get a 50+ point guy who brings what he does to the table for $4M (which you can't), this doesn't make sense at all. No team in the league is retaining $2M of dead money for 4+ years. Just so stupid.

Yup I think you’re forgetting about the other useless 4 mil that Vancouver gets while giving away a promising prospect. If Edmonton gets offered this they’d probably want to take it.

Not a chance ANY team wants to retain $2M for 4/ 5 years. No team, in this cap era would want to do that. Just so so so stupid and such a bad decision that hand cuffs you later later down the road. It's just not smart at all.
Lucic also has a no trade, if he wanted to go back home to the Vancouver area he would have just signed there instead of Edm. Edm would not take this offer of offered. Take out the retention and they consider.

I think Lucic thought Edmonton was his best chance at a cup. I would think any NHler would want to play for their home town. However, I believe Lucic said he never wants to go back after the fans burnt the city down and harassed his family.

Crazy I'm a fan of both teams. I can say this full heartedly Nuge is far beyond than Hoffman. Nuge would be Ottawa's 1st/ 2nd. Brassard would bump down to the 3rd line. Nuge 200ft game is really really good. Hoffman plays well in spurts and really just has a lethal shot when he can actually aim at the net.

What? Yeah for Montreal. This in no way could ever benefit Ottawa especially when they will need a player like Brown in a couple years. Sens also have depth in Dman. Two prospects Jaros/ Harpur are far better than Davidson and I'm a Davidson fan.
