Read a report saying Pittsburgh is asking Calgary for their 1st round pick (6th overall) in any fleury deal! that is absolutely absurd! Fleury could definetly be an option for calgary, but with reimer looking like a decent signing possibility, the situation pittsburgh is in and the recent andersen trade that just went down (as a comparable) here is the most i could see calgary offering them.

Cgy: Fleury
Pit: 2016 2nd (35th), 2016 2nd (54th) and maybe like a late 3rd or fourth pick if they were really that desperate.

Considering that andersen fetched 30th pick (only 5 spots higher) and a second for next year (who knows where that will end up) i don't think that pittsburgh can really ask for anything more than what anaheim got. Yes fleury is more proven then andersen. But andersen is younger, has more potential, and would probably have been calgary's first choice had they had their pick.

Pittsburgh doesn't have any bargaining power, How many teams are looking for a goalie? Toronto is off the market now, Carolina resigned Ward, Lehner is healthy now I assume, its really only Calgary it seems. Pittsburgh has no cap space and will just lose him in a years time for nothing anyway. If I'm Calgary, I offer pick #35 and don't budge at all. You'll see how fast Pittsburgh changes their mind.

2.) 21 Jun 2016 17:11:02
Calgary isn't exactly in a position of power either. They have a great group of players, but lack a good goalie. It will really depend on how badly management wants to win now. I do think 6th overall is too much though.

3.) 21 Jun 2016 17:19:02
Not the best time to be sellers in the goalie market. Can't see Fleury getting more then a couple picks/ prospects and maybe a cheap roster player.

2nd, 3rd and Jokkipakka or something like that.

4.) 21 Jun 2016 19:44:29
I think similar to what Shankar said about players asking for more money than they are going to get, teams do the same thing. Pittsburgh has to over value fleury, so that when bargaining happens they don't get stiffed on value.

So say the Ducks win the cup this year with Andersen being the backbone to their success.
Could they then consider trading Gibson instead of Andersen? Andersen is still young (26 compared to 22).

What would it take for the leafs to grab Gibson if they were willing to ship him off? Also consider that if there is a expansion draft next year, there's no way anaheim wants to be stuck with both Gibson and Andersen.

A possibility:

ANA: Gibson
TOR: Kapannen, Leipsec

Thoughts? Does a team add?

1.) 22 Apr 2016 06:16:52
More then that have to be a good package to get him

Kappenen pitts 1st maybe 1 more piece.

2.) 22 Apr 2016 08:45:37
That's not even close. Gibson is their guy, regardless of what Andersen does. See: Gibson is signed, Andersen isn't. If you want Gibson, try one of Nylander/ Rielly/ Marner/ 2016 1st rd pick.

3.) 22 Apr 2016 11:36:32
Hahahaha you need to trade something of equal value to get Gibson. Draisaitl is right there. Ducks laugh at this and hang up instantly.

4.) 22 Apr 2016 16:36:01
Smells like Jonathan Bernier all over again.

Mtl rumoured to be trying to acquire Yak.

Plausible trade?

MTL: Nail Yakupov

EDM: Lars Eller, Beaulieu or Juulsen, mid-high pick (2nd/ 3rd/ 4th)

Yaks value is low but i think if montreal wanted him they would need to give up at least a promsing D prospect, a pick, and a mid-aged roster player.

What do you think?

jamesvanhockey

1.) 26 Feb 2016 18:18:04
That's too much for an unproven scorer.

Beaulieu and a 3rd (it'll be early in the third)

For

Yak.

2.) 26 Feb 2016 18:20:53
Why do people place so much importance on Yakupov? He's not worth more then Weise or Lars Eller alone at best.

3.) 26 Feb 2016 18:47:25
Roughneck

No he isn't.

4.) 26 Feb 2016 19:09:18
JF12, show me stats to prove me wrong.

5.) 26 Feb 2016 19:30:19
Roughneck with that logic drouin is worth no more than dale weise because he hasn't proven anythin yet. give your head a shake, yeah he's underperformed but edmonton is not moving him for nothing.

6.) 26 Feb 2016 20:11:37
I would take Juulsen, Reway and 2nd round pick. But it won't happen.

7.) 26 Feb 2016 20:17:39
A rumored trade possibility is Eller, Emilin, Juulsen for Yak and Fayne.
I would wish for Bealieu and Eller for Yak and Faybe myself IF he goes to Montreal.

8.) 26 Feb 2016 20:21:50
Yak sucks. He should have no problem scoring in a wide open system.

no from MTL.

9.) 26 Feb 2016 20:36:04
jamesvanhockey, with "that logic"? Hockey is based on my type of logic. Not only has Yak never shown any signs of a scorer, his plays are horrible and has the +- to prove it. You think that GM's will just overlook those details after 4 years in the NHL? Keep dreaming!

The only team that might overpay for him are the Habs as some believe Yak could find his touch playing with his good friend Galchenyuk. I cannot understand why as playing in junior and pros is completely different.

As for Drouin, at least he did show good signs of being a future top 6 forward.

Give my headd a shake? You amateurs are funny!

10.) 26 Feb 2016 21:06:20
Yaks rookie season he showed he can put up numbers. And yeah his +/ - is unreal bad. How about a deal around Scherbak?

11.) 26 Feb 2016 21:30:23
Can't look at +- look at ovechkin one year every team still want him.

12.) 26 Feb 2016 21:58:45
Roughneck you seem like an amateur right now. Yakupov is still young, still has potential and worth more than Weise lol. I can't stand Yak but come on don't try to back up an absurd claim with that "logic"

Plus/ minus is impacted by the team's you are on. Go look at the plus/ minus leaders and the ones at the bottom.

Second he was rushed into the NHL because Edmonton deserperatly needed success. He is still very young and can still prove to be an ok NHL player. He has a lot of talent and has shown many flashes of a player who can play in the NHL.

So saying that an expiring contract in Weise could fetch him is not logial, and absurd.

Good day.

13.) 26 Feb 2016 23:44:29
Emilin has a full NTC this year so would have to agree to go to oilers. just asking him if he wants to be on a horrible team for a while.

14.) 27 Feb 2016 00:47:54
scherbak for yakupov.

chicago is going ALL IN this year with the ladd trade, so i think they finish their trading up with this:

CHI: Hamhuis

VAN: Pokka, (maybe a 2016 4th, or a higher pick from 2017).

What do you think? Personally i think with this addition it would make chicago an even more unstopple force than they already are.

3 way trade!

Winnepeg: Hamonic, Pirri, 1st (FL)

NY Islanders: Grimaldi, Gudbranson

Florida: Ladd, Byfuglien

I think this addresses all teams needs. Florida gets two big additions for playoffs (plus they have the cap space to actually sign these guys), Winnipeg gets a good pick, solid replacement for Buff and a good goal-scorer to replace ladd. Lastly NY gets a pretty good young right handed defenceman to replace hamonic plus a solid prosect.

What do you guys think? Do any teams need to add? Not going to lie, I'm not 100% sure what the value of the florida guys are (i don't really watch them) .

jamesvanhockey

1.) 28 Jan 2016 05:05:48
Ok so someone correct me if I'm wrong but

Winnipeg gives up Ladd and buff
Florida - pirri 1st gudbranson and Grimaldi
And ny gives up hamonic.

You see the issue here. Florida gets shafted
Ny makes away like bandits and Winnipeg. Well that might actually be close to value for Ladd and buff if fla thought they could resign even one.

2.) 28 Jan 2016 05:13:29
like i said i don't really know the values of the florida players to well. However i do beleive that florida would have to pay big to get these guys (especially since they have the cap space to sign both of them, so they aren't rentals) . Would it make it more even if instead of grimaldi florida gave a 2nd or 3rd to NY? What do you think the difference value-wise is between hamonic and gudbranson?

3.) 28 Jan 2016 05:39:07
To me it looks like maybe a third in place of Grimaldi. But I'm no expert on Florida myself.
From what I can tell Florida depressed his stats by tossing him into the nhl to early but I very well could be wrong and could be overestimating his value.

Really to me it seems a pretty good trade.
Much better than most trades on here. Not to mention almost all three way trades on here.

4.) 28 Jan 2016 06:44:01
No from NYI unless there desperate to trade Hamonic but it's not bad. Huge no from Florida IMO.

5.) 28 Jan 2016 06:54:37
Winnipeg- Trouba

For

New York Islanders- Hamonic

Just do a swap?

6.) 28 Jan 2016 12:45:47
Florida's cap space doesn't mean they need to give up more for Ladd and Buff nor does it make them more than rentals. They might be able to sign them but far from a guarentee. I'm with most people on this where Florida just gives up too much for pair of rentals.

7.) 28 Jan 2016 15:41:53
teams do have a tendency to overpay at the deadline. look at what vermette and yandle both fetched individually.

8.) 28 Jan 2016 19:55:47
No from Florida.

Not an oilers fan, but why the heck did the oilers not pull of the same trade for seth jones but with RNH instead? He seems to have the same value as Johansen. Even if they would have had to add a 3rd or 2nd, why not do it? They have plenty of prospects already. I think Chirelli really droped the ball on this one.

jamesvanhockey

1.) 07 Jan 2016 04:12:00
I'd rather deal Jones to East Conf.

2.) 07 Jan 2016 04:13:19
its not a simple matter of "if team X did this why didn't team Y do the same. " there are many other factors, and even if they did, how do you know NAS would have preferred rnh over johansen anyways?

3.) 07 Jan 2016 04:13:22
You realize the other team has to agree to the trade, right? For all we know Chiarelli DID offer just what you said and Nashville went with Johansen instead. I love how people are blaming Chiarelli for not trying to get Jones when not one of us here (myself included) has any clue what went on behind closed doors.

4.) 07 Jan 2016 07:12:12
Also, it would be dumb for the Oilers to trade RNH until McDavid gets back. If they were to trade him now who is going to be the Oilers 2nd line center? Mark Letestu?

5.) 07 Jan 2016 14:25:17
Also Johansen is bigger and more physical he plays a power forward game "Typical Western Conf Center" Backes, Thornton, Kopitar, etc. Don't know if that would be a factor.

06 Jan 2016 22:20:29
TB: Drouin

CLB: Rychel, Johansen.

i could see something like this happening but i'd rather shed a forward instead of a defenceman. Maybe someone like a Sam Carrick?
