Habs: Martinez

LA: 2nd rounder and Hudon.

Martinez will add more stability to Habs defense. So, the additions of Dadonov and Martinez should propel Habs to the playoffs and make them a dangerous team. Habs will have 3 very good top 3 lines and solid top 6 defensemen.

Im sure lots of teams would like to add Martinez, and will offer more than that. Unfortunately Hudon is not what Habs fans were hoping. I'm sure the Kings won't have use for him.

2.) 20 Jan 2020 00:35:35
LA can get far better. It’s been said repeatedly. They should get similar to what they got for Muzzin.

3.) 20 Jan 2020 05:33:47
I'm not sure he will get what Muzzin did. Muzzin is a tier better than him. I see Muzzin as a number 2 D man. where I see Martinez as 3, 4.
Maybe even a 5 now.

Habs: Dadonov

Fla: Caufield

Reunite Dadonov with Kovy on same line and watch them carry Habs to playoffs.

I can see Bergevin mortgaging the future if this was a true cup contender, however, they aren't even a playoff team atm. They will have to won at an 80% pace to get in. can't see it happening. and once Drouin, Gallagher and Byron come back, there is going to be to many forwards as it is.

2.) 19 Jan 2020 23:48:20
Dadonov will be UFA, just dumb.

3.) 20 Jan 2020 00:37:06
Caulfield is going to be a star. He is the right age bracket to be peaking in his prime when Montreal’s new core is ready to compete. Wicked fight by KK the other night. I didn’t know he had it in him. I just wish Mo freak would use him better. Seems like a waste on third line.

4.) 20 Jan 2020 16:27:30
I see a lot of people on this site saying Habs are miss using KK and I would like to know what they would do differently? He’s not better than the 2 centres in front of him so 3rd line seems right is it not? He’s 19 and I for one think a player needs to earn more minutes instead of be entitled to it. A lot of Habs wingers are injured so yes he’s been playing with lesser players but at the beginning he was playing with Drouin and Armia.

5.) 20 Jan 2020 19:51:32
I think KK is in the right spot.
At times , I also think some AHL time woulda done him good. He shows some signs of potential stardom, then looks a little lost. Not to sure what the proper thing to do for Kk is.

6.) 20 Jan 2020 20:34:18
I think he should have started in in the AHL and got more game time. Would have helped for development even though he was playing in an adult league prior to the draft.

Habs: Toffoli

L.A: 2nd rounder and Hudon.

Wgmj68

1.) 15 Jan 2020 20:51:55
Not to say that the trade is bad, I just wonder why the habs would trade for rentals, they aren’t in a playoff spot and they are clearly not contenders, they should be sellers and quit trying to win with a team that clearly cannot win with this roster and Toffoli doesn’t change that. Unless between now and the deadline they go on a crazy win streak then they’re just prolonging the inevitable.

2.) 15 Jan 2020 22:46:37
Habs don't need anymore Wingers. We have 4 who eventually will come back from injury. Drouin, Gallagher, Armia and Byron.

3.) 15 Jan 2020 22:55:05
If you take out the 2 eight games loosing assembly and you give them half of those as wins, mtl is 2nd place in the whole league. That 8 games, 16 points difference. MTL wins they’re next 5 games, they are in a good spot. You never count out a team that plays the way they play even when they loose.

4.) 16 Jan 2020 01:29:10
And if my aunt had a dick she’d be my uncle, right? That’s the first time I ever heard anyone say just count half their losses as wins and they’d be a good team. No doubt. You can say that about every team.

5.) 16 Jan 2020 10:40:49
Ahahaha montreal is a mid bottom feeder team in the worst spot in league. Too good to get a reallly good pick and not good enough to challenge for a playoff spot.
Down the middle is a weakness. You don't win in this league without depth down the middle. Ie crosby malkin.

6.) 17 Jan 2020 10:59:08
Wow! Good read magicmarc.

7.) 17 Jan 2020 23:55:15
Marc mispelled losing and lose so I know it wasn't a mistake. And if chicago won half the games they've lost theyd be good, its rocket science so most of you won't understand.

Habs: Shaw

Hawks,: 2nd rounder and Hudon..

Habs desperately miss Shaw. GM committed a serious mistake when he traded Shaw.

Wgmj68

1.) 13 Jan 2020 16:48:45
I was never a big fan of Shaw, I'm OK without him. Also, wouldn't happen.

13 Jan 2020 03:08:41
Assuming GM decides not to throw in the towel prior to trade deadline.

Habs Dadonov

Fla: Leikonnen and 3rd rounder.

Dadonov and Kovy could form an excellent tandem on the same line. I've noticed that Kovy doesn't currently have anybody who compliments him nicely on the same.line. Dadonov and Kovy played together in the KHL.

1.) 13 Jan 2020 06:45:10
Why does Florida even consider this lol.

2.) 13 Jan 2020 13:07:27
Because Leikonnen is younger and plays a small solid defensive game. He can effectively kill off penalties and score 15-20 goals. I'm sure Florida's GM would be interested in him.

3.) 14 Jan 2020 07:58:50
Ok but Dadanov plays with Hubs and Barky on the top line and scores 60-70 points a year, try again bud.

4.) 14 Jan 2020 19:03:49
Habs: Dadonov

Fla: Poehling and 2nd rounder.

Is this proposal more appealing to Fla?

Habs desperately need another top forward to compliment Kovy. Another Russian player with high end offensive skills would fit the bill. He and Kovy might rediscover their KHL chemistry and light it up for the Habs. But, this trade should be made only, I repeat, only if Habs are still in the playoff picture by the trade deadline. Habs GM must seriously consider making this type of trade now. Otherwise, he should must trade Weber and Price to kickstart a FULL rebuild. Sacrificing Poehling will not turn out to be a regrettable decision down the road. Peohling's upside is limited to 4th or 3rd line status. He's easily replaceable via draft.

Let's all do the following exercise and compile a list of the top 10 most untouchable players in the NHL right now. Players who would demand an arm, leg, and head from other teams in a trade. Let's see...

McDavid
Draistl
Marchand
Hedman
P. Kane
MacKinnon
Kucherov
Ovechkin
Austin Matthews
Crosby

Can we all agree on this list? Perhaps we can argue to include Bergeron, Eichel, Dahlin, Marner, Tavares, Josi, E. Peterson,

Wgmj68

1.) 10 Dec 2019 22:15:25
I think some of those guys are too old to be on a most untouchable top 10 list. Eichel and Dahlin are more untouchable than anyone except for a few on that list.

2.) 11 Dec 2019 03:58:15
I agree ebbs Peterson is more untouchable then most on the list too imo.

3.) 11 Dec 2019 04:55:35
Pasternak is more untouchable than most those guys. His contract makes him more valuable than most those guys.
McKinnon, Pasta, Marchand, Makar, Drai. Are more valuable because of their current contracts.
I would have Eichel at $1.4M less than Matthews on that list before Matthews not going to lie.

4.) 11 Dec 2019 06:22:49
I think stars under 28? Somewhere around there are untouchable. the ones over that age on this list, I can't see be moved. However, ya never know
If Wayne Gretzky can be traded. twice. anyone can.

5.) 11 Dec 2019 14:53:37
I don’t think Drais is untouchable because of McDavid I feel if Columbus offered up Dubouis and Jones Edmonton would move drais. Tavares shouldn’t be untouchable.

6.) 11 Dec 2019 15:49:21
Dubois and Jones can get almost anyone in the league VB so not a great point.

KOVY stays if the Habs can put together a mini win streak before the all star break. He's becoming too valuable to the team. I think he's just starting to scratch the surface by scoring his OT winner against the Sens. Clearly, the guy can still play at a high level, albeit not in every shift or game. But, he was the Habs best and most dangerous forward in 2 of the 4 games he's played in thus far.

Trading Price now is incumbent for Habs to orchestrate a successful rebuild. He is climbing up the age ladder. His trade value is diminishing with each loss and mediocre performance by him. His monstrous contract is a heavy burden on the team. Vlasic and Romanov would significantly bolster our defense and enable a goalie such as Halak to mind the fort here until Primeau is ready. Meier is a legit top 6 forward who can score 30-35 goals.

Trade Price now for a good roster player and 2 prospects. Bring back Halak for the next 2 seasons while Primeau learns the ropes and develops in the NHL as his backup. It's as simple as that.
