Nylander & Vesey for Backlund & Bennett?

Salaries pretty much balance out. I don't care if Toronto gives up the "supposed" best player. Toronto gets a solid 3C and some toughness. Calgary gets a top 6 RW. Kerfoot would be a better piece than Vesey for Calgary because they are losing 2C in the deal. I don't think Calgary can take on the salary difference between Vesey & Kerfoot

1.) 16 Feb 2021 21:33:06
No from Toronto why would you want that

2.) 16 Feb 2021 22:30:51
I hate Nylander. Backlund is good at both ends of the ice and they need grit. Their team is built to make the playoffs every year, and that’s it. can't win on skill alone.

3.) 16 Feb 2021 23:07:49
Replying again.
Nylander > Backlund (Backlund is super good defensively tho, but age, offensively and positional wise it makes no sense for Toronto)

Bennett > Vesey (Bennett plays a hard and physical game, Vesey is a pylon, both similar offensively but Bennett has a better chance of breaking out and is younger)

4.) 16 Feb 2021 23:37:46
That’s just absolutely stupid from the leafs. Wouldn’t mind Backlund as 3C tho Bennet went from underrated to severely overrated very quickly he’s worth a 2nd/ 3rd tops when he’s moved at deadline Calgary fans will be disappointed.

5.) 17 Feb 2021 00:32:53
@toronto17 that is very true but Nylander is younger and better offensively, but the playoffs is a different story you’re right. Mhm maybe an add from Calgary? Like a first round pick. I just see this kinda favouring Calgary at the moment

6.) 17 Feb 2021 11:22:16
Flames say thanks but we'll just keep our two centers.

29 Jan 2021 13:50:34
Dermott for Bennett? Maybe a small add somewhere. Change of scenery for both players. Leafs could always use more grit. Not sure if Calgary needs a dman but maybe Dermott fits in 5-7 dman. They are the same age, both RFA's, and both have shown some promise in years past

1.) 29 Jan 2021 14:54:16
No from Calgary they’re set on the left side.

2.) 29 Jan 2021 15:15:27
Thanks. I don’t know much about Valimaki.

3.) 29 Jan 2021 17:54:18
@toronto17 Valimaki is a stud and is regarded as untouchable, Treliving really likes Val. But so far he’s struggled a bit this season

4.) 29 Jan 2021 18:58:10
Untouchable is being thrown out very lousily on this site.

5.) 30 Jan 2021 01:16:23
@nylander it’s not my words. They have literally stated that he is untouchable

6.) 30 Jan 2021 16:01:10
Well they must’ve said it in the sense of a hyperbole as I’m sure when Jack Eichels name was floating around in the offseason and Calgary called Buffalo to see what it’d take to get Jack out they didn’t tell them Valamaki is off limits. I am absolutely sure they’d include Valamki in a trade for Eichel.

7.) 30 Jan 2021 16:10:17
I didn’t know Valimaki was highly regarded. I’m just trying to find a fit for Dermott. The leafs could use a bottom 6 grinder or just trade him for a pick. Toronto really needs to get Lehtonen or Sandin in the line up full time.

8.) 30 Jan 2021 17:18:24
Detroit would be a fit for Dunn and Dermott that’s the only team I could see protecting 1 of those 2.

9.) 30 Jan 2021 18:24:56
Don't worry Toronto fans, injuries will occur, and they other players will be called up. Don't trade your depth and get stuck.

If lehtonen or sandin deserved the full time spot, they would have it.

10.) 30 Jan 2021 23:14:43
We’ve seen quite a bit of Sandin, he’s is better than Dermott IMO. I think he has a much higher ceiling as well. Yes injuries will happen but I don’t think they need that many LD when the RD are weak. Maybe a one for one, Dermott for a RD of similar talent. I would really like to see Holl/ Reilly, Brodie/ Muzzin. I hope Brodie is just nervous with a new team. He fumbles the puck a lot and passes to nobody. Holl has been a stud, could be the rock defensively that Reilly needs.

06 Oct 2020 13:45:15
Nylander for Larsson and Kassian. The salaries are close, maybe a pick added somewhere? Leafs get a top 4 RD and some grit. Edmonton gets a top 6 forward, much younger than the players they give up. Everyone talks of the defence the oilers have in their system. I'm sure one can fill the hole left by Larsson

1.) 06 Oct 2020 16:50:01
what are u on.

2.) 06 Oct 2020 19:03:10
Uhh. Larsson is a pending UFA. I’m not totally sure if he could catch a 1st at the deadline and Kassian isn’t worth much.

3.) 07 Oct 2020 00:15:46
I didn’t realize Larsson was a UFA. I did mention that a pick could be added somewhere Emmitt, it was just a base to fill positional needs.

4.) 07 Oct 2020 03:31:58
You didn’t realize Larsson was a UFA because he’s not. He has a season left at $4.1mill.

5.) 07 Oct 2020 14:20:44
Yeah 1 year left is a pending UFA why would I associate the trade deadline with him if I didn’t know that? Pending UFA means they are about to be UFAs players like Krug/ Petro/ Hall are UFAs currently.

6.) 07 Oct 2020 13:33:02
Well Pending UFA means his contract is up at the closest UFA day, which is OCT 9th this year. So, Pietrangelo and Hall are ‘pending UFA’s’’, not Larsson, but if that’s what you meant then fine.

Off topic here but can any Albertans tell me a safe city to raise a family, other than Edmonton or Calgary? We don't want to be in a big city. We're moving from a small town in Ontario and would like to be in a somewhat smaller city, with schools and job opportunities. I have some family in Camrose, It seems nice but we'd like to broaden our search. Thanks

1.) 23 Nov 2021 15:39:35
I have family just outside of Calgary in Airdrie as well as in Lethbridge. Both with kids that grew up there and turned out pretty awesome.

2.) 23 Nov 2021 15:41:53
Guess it also depends on what you consider a small town. Lethbridge is pretty big, Airdrie is smaller but closer to Calgary.

3.) 23 Nov 2021 18:57:18
The houses in Airdrie seem pretty high, it must be nice. I’ve done a lot of research but wanted to know from people with experience. We don’t want a really small town that schools are too far away, not a real big city either. Thanks turkey.

4.) 23 Nov 2021 22:25:59
I'm not from Alberta, but have been to Lethbridge many times as its about 2 hours from BC border, it has everything you need ( however very windy) . Like all places, they have there crime and issues.
It all depends what kind of work your looking for?

5.) 24 Nov 2021 01:40:57
Cold lake is a small city/ big town if your looking farther North.

6.) 24 Nov 2021 10:37:05
I have read that Lethbridge and Red Deer are high on crime, but yes most places do have their share of issues. I haven’t heard of Cold lake, I’ll look into it. I’m hoping to get a retirement package from my company in April. I’ll only be 47, so I still plan on working somewhere for another 10 years. Any type of work really, just not customer service. I don’t like people, lol. My wife is a teacher, schools close by would be nice. Kids in high school, college soon. I appreciate the info.

7.) 25 Nov 2021 00:02:20
Jus so ya know, BC is better lol.

Blairmore, Coleman Alberta are small little towns, close to BCs East Kootenay region, where i'm from, Lots of Golf, Skiing, if ya want US border is about an hour away,
They call Blairmore / Coleman area the Crowsnest Pass area, lots of people work at the mines in BC, not to far away, make 100k a year driving Haul Trucks? If your into that.

8.) 25 Nov 2021 03:18:07
Thanks Sosa. We spent 3 weeks this summer in Banff, Jasper, Whistler and Vancouver. We loved every minute of it. We have family in Edmonton and Camrose, so we’ll probably stay in Alberta.

9.) 25 Nov 2021 03:23:54
Crowsness Pass looks like it’s right in the mountains. I like that. We also liked Field BC, went to Emerald Lake. Have you been to Lussier Hot Springs? A natural hot spring in the mountains.

10.) 25 Nov 2021 11:01:20
Yes I've been to Lussier many times, as I spend 2 weeks camping about 15 minutes from there, I grew up about an hour away from there, its a great place. Actually going to be going up there in about 3 weeks, do some icefishing and probably stop in for a soak once I'm done.
Good luck on the move out West. If ya end up near a WHL town, there's good hockey. the AJHL ( Jr A) is also a good league.
Maybe time to ditch the Leafs? And go for Oilers or Flames? Lol.

11.) 25 Nov 2021 12:58:31
That’s awesome Sosa. I’ll never give up on the leafs but I like all Canadian teams, even the habs. I found a really nice place I like in Blairemore, but this is all for nothing if I don’t get offered a retirement package in April. Worst case scenario, I retire in 5 years and we’re moving then. I want to be prepared if it’s April, so thanks to all of those who replied.

12.) 25 Nov 2021 14:30:26
Retire at your age.? I'm in the wrong profession lol . Hope it all works out for ya bud.

13.) 25 Nov 2021 15:25:14
Good luck on your retirement package!

14.) 25 Nov 2021 19:42:29
I can retire at 52 but there are a lot of people on lay off. It’s also a 2 tier pay system. They could offer a package to get the older crowd in a higher pay bracket out. Thanks guys.

15.) 26 Nov 2021 14:45:10
Red Deer and Lethbridge are indeed very high in crime. Sherwood Park or St Albert are good options aswell. I’m from Edmonton but I’m currently living in BC. You’ll love Alberta.

16.) 26 Nov 2021 14:51:47
Thanks Casual. I have a cousin in Sherwood Park and she has nothing but good things to say about it.

17.) 27 Nov 2021 14:25:39
I’ve been to Medicine Hat many times. Looks like a great place to live. Small city that has almost everything. But low crime rate. People are quite friendly.
Maybe another option for you Toronto 17.

18.) 27 Nov 2021 17:18:01
Thanks Muzza. I’ll check it out.

11 Nov 2021 19:41:27
Would any leaf fans like to see 11F, 7D? With the top 4 playing well and very little depth scoring, I say give it a try. Sit Engvall and role those top 4 throughout the lineup as much as possible. Holl being the 7th D, mostly for the PK. They were 26th in goals for before last night

1.) 11 Nov 2021 21:18:51
Only problem is rolling the top 4 D that much can create fatigue, as well as more opportunity for injuries.
I think the Leafs will be just fine in goals for. Mathews hasn't got going yet, Marner is in a season starting funk. I do agree they could use more secondary scoring. Maybe bring up some new blood.?

2.) 11 Nov 2021 23:36:32
I agree about the potential for injury. Matthews hasn’t seemed as dangerous, Marner is just fine. I’d just like to see one of them out there in every line. Everyone talks about how much they make, let’s see them play an extra few minutes each. I would like to see HoSang.

3.) 12 Nov 2021 03:28:19
HoSang is interesting., he has all the talent in the world, but for some reason can't make that talent turn into an everyday player. he reminds me kind of Drouin. , obviously Drouin has had more success, but both these guys at any given time can be the most talented player on the ice. then can look like they might be beer league stars at best. hard to figure out.

I still and always will say, Leafs should trade Mathews. get a huge return.

4.) 12 Nov 2021 22:30:22
I thought the problem with HoSang was his attitude, not his talent? Some guys take longer to mature. Kassian knew he was given his last chance and has made the best of it. Trading Matthews would be interesting, they could probably get a top RD, a 1-2 C to replace him, and a couple other pieces.

5.) 13 Nov 2021 01:51:56
Matthews if leaving soon for Arizona anyways Sosa, lol. They’ll have a ton of cap space then.

6.) 17 Nov 2021 10:14:10
Personally I see Ho-Sang as more of a Duclair than a Drouin. I could see him being a contributor in the long run if he can stay afloat in the NHL but I don’t think there is any sort of breakout about to happen. He’s just one of those great looking younger players who doesn’t translate. Remember Sean Day? 🤷🏼‍♂️.

7.) 19 Nov 2021 18:42:24
I don’t remember Sean Day. I don’t k know a lot about HoSang but I’ve heard he’s playing well for the Marlies. I know there was attitude issues in NY. I’d like to see him given a chance. Engvall and Ritchie are the only 2 players that I think have been disappointing thus far. I don’t care how many points the top 4 put up, I’d rather see them playing well defensively and see some depth scoring. A side note, any leaf fan that has ever said Matthews is better than McDavid is truly delusional. I’ve never judged a player by the jersey they wear, McDavid is in a league of his own.

8.) 21 Nov 2021 02:49:30
HoSang’s OT winner better have him a contract and a call up soon.

06 Nov 2021 05:22:17
That McDavid guy is pretty good

26 Oct 2021 22:36:54
Chevy and coach Q knew about to be in some hot water. How many more sick pricks knew?

1.) 27 Oct 2021 04:07:50
Ya, this is quite the disturbing story. i'm sure we haven't heard the end of this., maybe just the beginning .
Pretty sad this is the Big Story in the Game.

2.) 27 Oct 2021 10:39:54
Yes it is Sosa. I’m sure more names will come out.

3.) 28 Oct 2021 00:01:32
Read some more about this, absolutely disgusting. I feel for Kyle Beach.
What do you think the penalty should be for those who knew and turned a blind eye? Should Coach Q and others be banned from the game?

4.) 28 Oct 2021 01:30:03
I don’t know how they should handle this. What do you do about players that didn’t speak up?

5.) 28 Oct 2021 03:03:16
Ya, that's true, I haven't even thought about the players yet. what a mess.

6.) 28 Oct 2021 19:47:02
The only thing that will save Chevy is if he was told that his superiors were dealing with the allegation and that he was to stay out of it. As a second year assistant GM he would have believed that they were dealing with it and actually believed they actually were. I wish this would have come out 10 years ago.

7.) 29 Oct 2021 01:23:39
In today’s standards it’s terrible but not back in those days. Some form of consent was given.

8.) 29 Oct 2021 02:11:03
Really VB? You were there were ya? A Pervy Predator was just as bad then as they are now. there hasn't been any different standard when it comes to that. sometimes you say some really stupid S#%t.

9.) 31 Oct 2021 10:14:07
Q resigned.
Chevy hasn’t been penalized in any way.
Jets owner is asking for the video coach’s name to be removed from the Cup.
Did Toews know? Did Kane? Did Keith?
If they did were they amongst those taunting Beach?

Things are being done that are good progress in regards to this situation. At the same time there remain a LOT of questions that aren’t answered and honestly may never fully be answered for a variety of reasons. I would like to see the Hawks internal investigation released, as well as investigation the NHL did following-up. But what I don’t agree with is slandering players and coaches for the simple reason that no one outside of this situation and/ or investigation knows the full involvement of anyone whose name may keep appearing next to it.
Q left the Panthers. Sorta sounds like something someone who knew about it would do. But Chevy didn’t/ hasn’t/ probably won’t. So maybe he legit didn’t know.

I’m 100% behind punishment for people who deserve it in regards to this situation. But how about we don’t let Twitter decide?

27 Aug 2021 17:38:27
I absolutely love Hyman and he will be missed. I like the addition of Ritchie. He puts up decent numbers, the size and intimidation factors are huge. If their goalies can stay healthy, I think they'll be alright. It's going to be a tough division, I'm not expecting much, but I can't wait until it gets started. I'll try and stay positive Nylander, lol

1.) 27 Aug 2021 23:25:17
Gonna be an interesting year in that division. Tampa is still the team to beat, however Florida did a lot in offseason to make a push for top 3. not even sure where my Habs fit in, maybe 5th. Leafs will battle for a top 3 spot, however, I can also see them being a Wildcard team.

2.) 28 Aug 2021 03:30:37
It’s going to be tough for the habs without Weber. If they make the playoffs, it will be well earned. I said from the beginning of last year that I liked the moves they made. I know as a leaf fan I’m not supposed to like Anderson, but he’s a guy you like when he’s on your team. I hated Tucker before he was a leaf.

3.) 28 Aug 2021 15:21:18
I don’t really like the addition of Ritchie but he brings that in front net presence we don’t have. He’s lazy but he’s big. Kase could be good and Kampf will be a big upgrade at 4c If he plays 3C he’ll bring the defensive element. Definitely a worse team then last year but there still a top 10 team in the NHL and once you get in the playoffs anything can happen.

Pavelski has been one of my favourite players for years. He’s a clutch playoff performer and destroyed the red wings every time they met up. I do think the leafs should add someone with a Stanley cup though. They have some nice leadership in Spezza and Simmonds, but Muzzin is the only guy that’s one a cup.

I’d say more like Montreal is not giving up those 2 young players for a 33 year old.
