seems a bit much for Lafreniere.

2.) 31 Dec 2022 16:15:04
You might be right.

3.) 31 Dec 2022 17:19:06
I don't know if it is a bit much, you are asking them to waste cap space on Monahan.

Laf isn't worth a lot, but I doubt they move him for that. They might as well just see how he does. Or, someone will bank on his potential and give them something they can use.

4.) 31 Dec 2022 17:44:45
I don't think the habs are going to move their florida pick, especially before the draft lottery

5.) 31 Dec 2022 19:25:28
Ya, I really didn't think it through to much . I have been stating all year not to move a lottery pick.
I also wouldn't mind if Habs can keep Monohan for a few more years

I still think Lafreniere cab be an impact player. He needs a fresh start.

6.) 01 Jan 2023 23:23:03
You don’t trade a 1st overall pick unless you’re getting a franchise corner stone piece back. Not that he’s worth that but rather it makes zero sense to trade a player of that pedigree for so little and potentially see him explode in a new organization. ( unless he asks for trade ) .

To summarize in a vacuum this could be fair from a value stand point but ranger decline.

Also I believe he is worth more in general he is on his ELC and is actually very useful as a 2 way player.

7.) 04 Jan 2023 02:21:12
OMG no…?

Lafreniere is not the kind of piece that attracts a 1st. He’s a reclamation project.

In the spirit of buying high and selling low, a rebuilding team like MTL should convert Monahan and others in assets like high picks and good prospects.

The only reason to consider Lafreniere is if he’s being offered in a sell-low fashion. He doesn’t look like a guy who is going to turn it around. Looks like the Rangers think so too.

Sad to hear about the passing of Borje Salming.
Was a class act, and true poineer of the game. As well, one hell of a Defenseman.

With the Capitals having some injury issues, I wonder if they could use Dadanov. I'm not sure what a deal would look like, but, with really no spot on Montreal, he could be a decent player to take a roster spot . I haven't followed Dadanov at all during his career, but he seems to be capable of 20 goals with the right players. Better yet would be if the Capitals would take Hoffman however.

Sosahabs24!

1.) 05 Nov 2022 03:35:02
Drouin, Hoffman and Dadanov were offered to the capitals and they declined. According to Friedman.

2.) 05 Nov 2022 07:49:46
Ok, thanks VB. Maybe come closer to deadline maybe these guys will get moved. Who knows.

3.) 05 Nov 2022 21:29:37
I see the Caps just picked up the guy from Toronto on Waivers. that kid who dropped the cup with Colorado.
So guess have to look elsewhere to unload a player.

4.) 13 Nov 2022 23:04:34
Yeah I think they are stuck with them for the year.

5.) 15 Nov 2022 17:21:00
Ya, hard to say. I also can't see some of the guys I'd like to see gone fetch much. Dadanov, I'd like to just give him away. Kinda useless on the Habs. The one guy teams probably will want, Monahan ( of he remains healthy) I, wanna see him signed for 4 years.
Habs can only have so many picks and prospects, time to get rid of the dead weight ( Dadanov, Drouin, Hoffman) and form a team. Let the kids they have develop, and focus on adding the next Allstar Goalie.

6.) 21 Nov 2022 13:10:55
Yes Monahan will have value at the deadline for sure.

Anyone else hate those new TV advertising on the Boards.. I find it irritating. I didn't mind the somimple one behind the Net on the glass , but the one on the boards I find way to distracting. What do you guys think??

Maybe I'm just on old cranky man who hates change,??

Hey VB. I think I may recant some of my previous post comments haha

That was obvious 1st game , beating the Leafs emotions haha??.

Deffenitley not gonna contend for a playoff spot, and , I think Slahkovsky needs a little work down in Laval. He's very hesitant, which, he's 18, so im not concerned.

The other things I said, I still believe., but I dont think Habs are gonna suprise to manypeople.. Habs will battle Arizona, Chicago for the best odds at Bedard ..
I'm just gonna pump the Brakes on my high expectations of this team.. hahah

1.) 16 Oct 2022 19:25:01
Big players take longer to develop I agree that he needs time in AHL I think habs fans will be disappointed for the 1st few years seeing Wright and even Cooley making a bigger impact but his time will come.

One player that has impressed me so far on the habs is Allen he’s having a good start to the season.

2.) 16 Oct 2022 23:58:03
Ya, I'm not sure if he will need that much time. (but I've been wrong all year so far???) .

Ya, Allen has been good. He's a good 1B goalie. I know he's not a Price or anything , but I really like the guys attitude. He knows he won't win a cup, but wanted to be one of guys who were here when ( maybe) this team became really good.
Great character and leadership for the kids.

3.) 19 Oct 2022 02:02:09
That’s true he’s one of the few guys from New Brunswick who made it to the show so nice to see him do well.

Just in general look at Kakko and Byfield. I’d put Slafkovsky in the same category as those 2 in terms of development path.

13 Oct 2022 05:41:02
So Habs fans.. what do you think after watching game 1 of the season?
Obviously, they won't be a contender, or a playoff team. However , I think they contend for one. I also believe they will not win the Connor Bedard sweepstakes( unless the lottery balls in an awesome way)..
My takes from game 1..
St.Loius, has an exciting game plan
Suzuki is a leader
Caufield is a potential Rocket contender.
Slahkovsky belongs
A Healthy Monohan is really good..

There is alot of promise. It's nice after watching years and years of of mediocre teams, to just chill are watch a team grow. There are no Cup aspirations, no playoff ones either. It's a year of really not alot of pressure ( from a fans view).. just go play and get better.!..

Gonna be fun to watch.. hard at times forsure, but future is good

This team is a starting goalie.. a dman or 2 as well as 2 more years experience from being Very good

1.) 13 Oct 2022 12:28:30
The thing is the east is just so stacked that they will probably be deep in Wright sweep stakes. Who realistically are they better then in the east?

2.) 13 Oct 2022 13:18:40
I'm not sure, I think they have Philly beat, could push a couple of the other guys. deffinetley not a playoff contender yet, but they have some good peices for the future. I think ya mean Bedard sweepstakes?
Anyway, last night's game was my equivalent to a Stanley Cup lol. Maybe the one and only time they beat Leafs this year, but was nice to see a different club than last year, with alot of good peices for the future .

What was your take VB on the Leafs? Obviously only one game, but just seems to be something missing,

3.) 15 Oct 2022 03:09:39
Yes I meant Bedard. Philly looked really good against ottawa.

The leafs didn’t play great Wednesday malgrin looked good but I feel like it was just a pretty bad game mixed with a great effort from the habs. I don’t think anything is missing with the leafs in particular I guess you can say Murray wasn’t great but Samsonov played well Thursday so we will see.

4.) 15 Oct 2022 22:04:43
To me, it feels like they are missing someone like Spezza, a veteran presence who can add some leadership.

5.) 15 Oct 2022 22:06:41
I know they have Gio, but wonder if they need more of that loud kinda guy, I actually thought PK Subban woulda been a good fit.

6.) 19 Oct 2022 02:03:35
I’m not really to sure about that sossa. A guy like Gallagher or Foligno would be nice I think.

For a 3rd and 6th I'd rather just try and negotiate a contract to keep him around, help mentor the young guys. However, out of respect to the player, ask him what he wants.

I dont think the evaluation is off, just he's such a good guy to have around for all the youth., he's really not that old himself. I honestly don't know what a contract for him would look like, but if the price is reasonable, and he's open to the rebuild process, I think that could be very valuable for Montreal.

I'd be interested in the Lafreniere one. I'd like to keep Monohan, but the chance to get Lafreniere is very hard to pass up.
I'm not convinced that what we see from him, is all he's gonna be.

This would be a hard decision to make, but I dont believe that Lafreniere isn't Yakupov 2.0. hes not even 22,. A fresh start is what he needs.

I could see him getting that. Teams do stupid crap at deadline. Not saying this is stupid, but its alot. however, it's possible.

What about looking at going after Edmunson or Ekholm of Nashville? Would be cheaper?

I like the the Edmundson, Drouin and Dvorak one.
I'd rather re sign Monohan is possible.
Don't want to trade Anderson.
I'd be ok with the Allen one.

I think Hughes should focus on using his tradeable assets to find a goalie of the future. Not sure who that is out there, anyone have any suggestions?

I wouldnt even call him bad Ebs, just not worth the 9 million .
When he's on his game, the guy is a force. Love his all around game. ( when he's playing to his ability)

I dont know about being the modern Phaneuf, but I see your point.
Hes got all the tools to be #1 Dman, but just put it all together. I'd love to have this guy at about 5-6 M per year. But he's way overpaid.
He kinda reminds me of Josh Anderson, obviously different positions, but all the tools, but can't take the next step to being a legit star in the league.
