I believe it’s either KK, or Leafs rode Andersen like a coal mule. Lack of a proper backup goaltender was a huge issue before this season. One of the biggest. They didn’t address it, and now are in a very bad spot. They should have made that a priority. Instead they caved and gave Marner what he wanted. In the meantime they should have been looking for a goalie.
Huge failure on Dubas part this one. Andersen cannot be counted on to steal a series, let alone lead us to the cup, . I know my opinion don’t mean squat, but focusing on that backup goalie should have been a top priority. You explain to Marner he takes 0.5m lees this year because you want to win.

@Nobody wants Galchenyuk is laughable imo. He's still a possible 50+ point player that's capable of 30 goals based on the fact that he had a 30 goals/ 56 point season. Try nobody would overpay for Galchenyuk. If MTL could get him back for like a B prospect and a mid pick I'd be happy for sure!

Complaining about Dubas caving into guys should have started way way before Marner like I’ve been saying for years. Mariners situation happened because of a few situations leading up to that. You can’t blame anything on a Marner specifically. Just saying. Many things snowballed and lead up to that.

Galchenyuk has exactly zero goals so far and a whopping five points. Going back five years to when he had his career year is a huge stretch to be relying on him to do that again.

Vb, yes quick had a bad year last year. but aside from last season, quick has always had a better GAA than Freddy Andersen. I know Andersen ain't one of the top goalies in the league or anything, but if quick is a wash up then I guess Andersen is a never was.

Personally, I think its a steal for Pittsburgh, they're getting a new young top 5 prospect, and, gudbranson was just an add on the trade last year with Jared Mcann from florida to make value even.
Plus, Gudbranson is OLD.

How about the leafs-devils game? Leafs gave up 3 in second, but tied it up in the third after New Jersey scored. In OT though, Nylander brought the puck in the O Zone, but lost it for 2 seconds... But then took it back. he was alone, Severson poked it into his own net,(LOL) But the leafs kept losing the puck in the O Zone ALL night. NJ deserved the win.
Now, over to the pens. They came on top 5-2 against the preds. Simon ripped a five hole 2 minutes into the first. Grimaldi also scored. but it was an easy goal. I shouldve been the smith's because it was already on the line sliding. A nice tip tho.
Galchenyuk scored a stuff in on the goal line from the very end of the Powerplay. A couple other nice goals.
