I think it would be absolutely no from the Islanders. I'd take a 22 YO RD that is tracking for the top pairing over 1OA all day, every day.

The NHL looks foolish as long as they allow teams to take advantage of the rules. Using the LTIR as a way to get more cap space, trading a player to other teams so they can off load some of the cap hit and bringing back a LTIR player just in time for the playoffs although legal isn't in the spirit of the game. The NHL has to close these loop holes ASAP.
