FL: Marner, Brown and Zaitsev

TOR: Ekblad and Hoffman

Marner is 22yr old elite player.
Teams only trade that if an elite player is coming back in a trade.
Hoffman or Ekblad are not elite players.

Ekblad is a 23 year old, 40 point elite dman, you could argue that his value is equal to Marner, however, even if you wanted to say Marner has more value then him, looking at the other pieces of the trade than I think it works out as Hoffman>>Brown+Zaitsev. Iâ€™d say the Leafs would even have to add something small like a 2nd. I donâ€™t think Leafs fans really understand how bad Zaitsevâ€™s SIX YEARS remaining are.

Why is marner better vbbb? Peterson had a better rookie year then marner did It could be argued that Pettersson rookie year was better then marners 2nd year.

Elias Pettersson was given a lot more PP time and minutes in his rookie season also played with better linemates then Bozak and JVR in Boeser + who ever else while only scoring 5 points less. Pettersson isnâ€™t even a PPG player yet heâ€™s more comparable to Nylander then Marner. While Pettersson is obviously a lot better but Marner is someone you hope Pettersson can be.

I would say more like ekblad, huberdeau and a 2nd or 3rd for brown marner and Zaitsev. Leafs then get a top pairing dman a left winger while panthers get the best player in the deal (arguably I guess) and a 4/ 5 dman who isnâ€™t bad just overpaid and a solid 3rd line winger.

Kadri for Barrie could make sense but I think Toronto would have to add a fair amount. But I guess contracts might make it closer. Colorado can also draft there 2C at 4 and have him in a season or two.

Obviously a leafs fan. why leafs fans think zaitsev has any value? Basically got to give kadri for any team to take him, maybe for a 5th? Then its brown for Hamilton and a ufa?

â€œBasically got to give Kadri for any team to take himâ€ a 2C consistent 30 goal guy when in a 2C role whoâ€™s in his prime and wonâ€™t regress for a couple seasons signed to a steal of a contract at 4.5 million on top of all of this is a top defensive player who works hard every shift and gets into the other teams heads. People may not like that he dives or sticks up for his teammates but at the end of the day heâ€™s very effective. A team like Colorado whoâ€™s lacking a 2C would give a lot for him.

Yah I mean Marners trade value wise isnâ€™t bad but the last thing Toronto needs is a Center. NJ might rather have Marner but Iâ€™m not sure. I spoke my opinion on Marner many times I think heâ€™s Patrick Kane.

Thanks Turkey, just saying Toronto needs to sweeten the pot for taking zaitsev, saying kadri is a bit much. But saying zaitsev is a good trade piece is an overstatement also. Better than Seabrook as a cheaper option but still an overpaid 5-6 defenseman.
