Both Zuccarello and McQuaid are UFA's after this season.

Breakdown of trade as I see it. Brown and a 3rd for zucc then zaitsev for Mcquaid. Reasons it won't happen rangers can and will do better for zucc and if the rangers were willing to take on zaitsevs contract this trade would have happened months ago.

If Bracco Brown second get you Simmonds as you say, then it’s Oz for Gudas which Philly still says no to. I don’t think you can get both those players without a first. I think the biggest thing stopping Tampa or Toronto from getting Simmonds is that neither have the rights to their first this year to trade, he’ll probably get one and Gudas get like a second.

Toronto should pickup Karl Alzner off waivers from Montreal. When Nikita Zaitsev comes off injury send him down. Karl Alzner would be a got pairing with Ron Hainsey.

I disagree! Gardiner is a defensive liability. He has proven this over and over for years. Alzner has shown that he can be a solid dman when given the an opportunity like when he played in Washington.

We might not have got McDavid, but we did snag Marner. Not a bad consolation prize imo. And I feel we had gotten McDavid, we probably wouldn’t have got Matthews. So we did pretty good for ourselves here.
