I think bith Buffalo and Calgary would prefer picks and prospects to Tkachuck. Buffalo is in a rebuild and probably secretly wants to tank this year for a chance at 1st overall.

I actually like those trades. The team needs a shake up and that would do it. Monahan and Backlund are too inconsistant and soft. Marner and Eichel would give a HUGE boost in skill.

I would do Backlund for Tarasenko all day every day.
Then Monahan plus picks and prospects for Eichel
Gudreau-Eichel-Tkachuk
Mangiapane-Lindholm-Tarasenko
Pelltier-Dube-Coleman
Pitlick-Lewis-Richie
You would have to find a way to get Lucic's cap hit off the books to make the salary cap work

I think that's fair value for Monahan. 1 too many prospects from Calgary. Otherwise I think everyone is satisfied with that trade.
