It's that time of year again.

Looking for 1 or max. 3 guys to join this year's edition of this site's fantasy hockey league on Fantrax.

We're 9 currently and wanna go with either 10 or 12.

We haven't decided yet whether we want to do a keeper league from this year on. We'll decide once the league is filled and everyone has weighed in.

So, if you're interested, please leave a short reply beneath this post. Please include your preference of keeper/non-keeper and also your fantasy hockey experience thus far.

Thanks to the owners and editors of nhl-trade-rumors.com for making this possible!

1.) 05 Aug 2017 18:09:47
Interested, and prefer keeper league.

2.) 05 Aug 2017 19:03:25
Isn't goldenshowers actually montrealfinest, who I assume is part of that 9? If not, good job tricking me.

Also, am I part of that nine or do I need to reapply after my failure to make the playoffs last season?

3.) 05 Aug 2017 19:39:46
Oh and did you mean Golden Knights? Idk who that is.
Finest currently is not part of that 9, we're debating whether or not to let him join atm.

4.) 05 Aug 2017 19:38:26
First of all: How TF do I get 4 Unbelievables for that? Makes zero sense lol

@Shankar: I've already sent you an invite.

Anyone else?

5.) 05 Aug 2017 19:52:16
Just checked and I got it, thanks. It's just an email I use for stuff like this. Not one I check frequently at all.

And yeah, I meant goldennights. I always thought they were the same person, but maybe I'm wrong.

6.) 05 Aug 2017 20:43:56
Can I join?

7.) 06 Aug 2017 05:16:19
Hey Drais, I'd be interested one more time, prefer non keeper though but don't mind too much either way.

8.) 06 Aug 2017 05:16:48
Im in,
Head to head preferably.

9.) 06 Aug 2017 11:23:23
I'd be interested in joining.

10.) 06 Aug 2017 12:10:41
I'm voting unbelievable too.

11.) 06 Aug 2017 15:59:35

Poor Colten.

01 Sep 2016 15:08:54
@everyone interested in fantasy:

Check the Fantasy Teams page [look at the top menu] on this site to get the latest update or state your interest.

(@Ed: Could you post that on the main page, so people know where to go, thanks! )

29 Aug 2016 16:22:41
Okay, so as of now, 7 managers from last year returned to the Fantasy League.

Therefore, I'd say everyone who is interested in joining the nhl-trade-rumors.com fantasy hockey league simply vote on whether you'd prefer Yahoo or Fantrax.

Yahoo or Fantrax vote

1.) 29 Aug 2016 17:31:50

2.) 29 Aug 2016 17:52:54

3.) 29 Aug 2016 18:40:39
Also we should only let people who will be joining the league vote. Idk if the 2 above have actually contacted you to join or not.

4.) 29 Aug 2016 19:03:46
Oh and I vote for Fantrax, worked great last season.

5.) 29 Aug 2016 19:14:12
Please, in addition to voting, comment below this post, if you're interested

6.) 29 Aug 2016 18:25:40
if you need another let me know. I tried sending my info earlier but the yahoo email was bad.

7.) 29 Aug 2016 18:36:59
Fantrax, did you get my email Drais?

8.) 29 Aug 2016 19:39:23
I'd like to join buts what's with the two Drais's. I voted Yahoo.

9.) 29 Aug 2016 20:45:19
I'm interested in joining. I didn't do it last year. What info should I send you? Also I vote Fantrax.

10.) 29 Aug 2016 20:51:46
Fantrax is really good and really easy to navigate for people who haven't used it before, so I'll say it.

11.) 29 Aug 2016 21:23:57
I am interested.

12.) 30 Aug 2016 01:30:55
I'd like to join. Is that still possible?

13.) 30 Aug 2016 02:44:36
I'd like to join too! What do I do?

14.) 30 Aug 2016 04:01:56
I say we just use Fantrax. Already 15 people have voted on the poll and there won't even be 15 teams! Why not just discuss after we found our 12 teams?

15.) 30 Aug 2016 04:11:02
I would be interested in joining.

16.) 30 Aug 2016 06:26:57
Haha how did you make a poll?

17.) 30 Aug 2016 12:01:45
I didnt, the Editor did I guess.
Some good interest so far.

What is with other greats from this site? Montrealfinest, you back in? Someone else we forgot? I'd love to see hab. in there, let's see if he joins.

18.) 30 Aug 2016 12:03:25
Well, BJ, there is no contacting me, this is the only way we can solve it. We will create a league according to the results from this poll and if it seems like the majority is unhappy, we can make another poll in the league and change the platform, no big deal.

19.) 30 Aug 2016 12:05:45
So far

BJ, Shankar, Draftmcdavid, ovies heros, Benn14, THEGR81 and myself are in.

Mike and JdawgTO applied

20.) 30 Aug 2016 12:07:03
I did, just made a summary stating who is in so far.

Colt, is this a YES?

21.) 30 Aug 2016 16:00:00
Yes I'm in and I don't care which we use. It's all the same to me. Is their another email I need to send my info to.

22.) 30 Aug 2016 16:45:39
Can I join Drais I'd be very committed. Also I'd like to do Fantrax but I voted Yahoo.

23.) 30 Aug 2016 20:57:25
No email Colt. Once I've set up the league, we'll publish a link to apply to the league or so.

I think I'll do it over the weekend and then post the link

24.) 30 Aug 2016 21:30:20
I'd like to join.

25.) 30 Aug 2016 22:13:36
Great! I look forward to it!

26.) 31 Aug 2016 00:10:09
I'd like to join.

27.) 31 Aug 2016 01:20:00
Hey Drais, I'm still interested, never was able to send that email

im going for yahoo this time though however the communication stuff on fantrax was geat.

14 Jul 2015 18:51:19
Not proposing this deal or saying it's good/bad, just saw two guys complete this in kind of a Mock GM game. Just thought it's an interesting one.

NSH gets: Jonathan Drouin, Brayden Coburn, Cedric Paquette, Henri Ikonen

TB gets: Roman Josi, Kevin Fiala

What do you guys think? Who wins? Or fair trade?

Let me know.

1.) 14 Jul 2015 20:51:00
L-O-V-E it.

2.) 14 Jul 2015 21:13:41
Definetly got to say Tampa bay, just cuz,

Josi >= Drouin
Fiala > The rest

I mean, coburn did go for a first, but that was a WAYYYY overpayment by Tampa (what was Yzerman thinking) and Paquette is good, don't know the other guy, but I think Fiala is worth more than that, and at best I would say Driouin is equal, not better. Not TOOO far off, but not TOO close either.

And, for those who ONLy read the trade nothing else, HE ALREADY KNOWS IT isn't going to HAPPEN

3.) 14 Jul 2015 21:37:27
Im just giving you props for posting something

4.) 14 jul 2015 21:50:40
tb freaking steals this one

5.) 14 Jul 2015 21:59:19
Not even close to fair for Nashville. Josi is on the right side of 30 and could already be argued as a top 10 D man in the league. Drouin and Fiala are close to wash although I still think Drouin >= Fiala. Coburn (a UFA next year), Paquette (4th liner) and Ikonen (who?) Isn't even close to enough for Josi IMO.

6.) 14 Jul 2015 22:11:08
From Tampa I don't really like it. But that's probably bias and that I don't know enough about Fiala. I'm very worried about giving up on Drouin too soon

7.) 14 Jul 2015 22:52:44
Nashville wins.

8.) 14 Jul 2015 23:29:31
no from nashville. Josi was arguably their best dman and with him weber and jones they will have one of the best defences in the league for a long time. If I were them I would try and trade fiala for some forward help without giving up one of their big dman. Drouin hasn't proven enough yet to be worth a Josi and coburn is aging. In my mind this would be a step backword for nashville

9.) 14 Jul 2015 23:59:45
Pretty fair value IMO. I would take Josi and Fiala though. Very difficult to pass on Drouin.

10.) 15 Jul 2015 00:35:27
its good, fair, but I don't see nash trading josi, they would trade weber first for way more than josi would garner and keep the younger cheaper option whos learned from the best.

josi would make tb best d in league, so I see why you would want him

drouin would become a star in nash. still will in tb though.

11.) 15 Jul 2015 01:52:16
Btw is it GM connected on Xbox/Playstation? Lol

12.) 15 Jul 2015 12:41:04
Drais try to sweep one in it quick but sorry that trade favor tampa by a mile give good prospect other then them exept for Drouin

13.) 15 Jul 2015 12:43:54
Since I read everything from TB wins over fair trade to NSH wins, trade can't really be one-sided in any direction, I guess.

Drouin is still a 3rd overall draft pick. He could very easily be a point per game player in NSH in a year from now. Coburn is a worse replacement for Josi, Fiala a worse replacement for Drouin. Since the gap between Josi and Coburn is prolly a bit bigger than the one between Drouin and Fiala, TB adds Paquette and Ikonen.
Like it for both, fits everyone's needs. NSH's D is stil very good while they gain what imo will be a franchise forward. TB has an abundance of those and further strengthens their D while replacing Drouin in their prospect pipeline.

14.) 15 Jul 2015 20:09:40
That's what I'm talking about. Montrealfinest literally NEVER reads what others actually write. Or he doesn't understand it, I don't know.

As I said, I didn't PROPOSE THIS OR ANYTHING, just wanted to hear opinions so keep you "trying to sneak one in"-bs.

And btw, that trade isn't one-sided. Drouin is a legit first line player 1-2 years from now. As I said above, Coburn replaces Josi, Fiala replaces Drouin. Since the first gap is a bit bigger, TB adds a prospect and Paquette.
Plus it fits both teams needs.

15.) 15 Jul 2015 23:29:48
Draisaitl it might be closer if you drop ikonen and add one of your better d prospects

16.) 16 Jul 2015 06:43:24
Like whom? Sure won't be Koekkoek/DeAngelo.

Could offer Masin/MacLeod. Both were 2nd round picks in 2014, I think. Maybe Blujus, Dotchin, Thomas. Depending on what/whom NSH likes.

Alright, so since Hab brought that up, here's a question for anyone:

Positive/ negative feelings for teams/ players/ people in this page aside, let's say you enter the league as a new team and get the chance to inherit either the roster of the Montreal Canadiens or the roster of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Which would you choose to build your franchise?

1.) 06 Jul 2017 12:10:22
I didn't bring it up. you did. But I'll take the habs.

2.) 06 Jul 2017 12:21:03
See this is what gets to me about you. You make a moronic statement about how 25 teams in the nhl would swap there goaltending and bottom 6 forward group for tampas. Then you say I brought it up! . Then you say something else about how tampas roster is so much better then montreal but yet i don't recall tampa in the playoffs last year. then to help you sleep at night you ask a bunch of montreal haters on here to agree with you. Pretty sad man! When tampa doesn't make the playoffs again this year what will it mean then? 30 teams would be willing to swap rosters with them? Your probably one of those guys who said montreal would have to give up galchenyuk sergachev and a 2nd to get drouin.

3.) 06 Jul 2017 12:47:38
Both of you need to chill - but I'd take Tampa. Only reason Montreal is any good is Price and that is well established.

4.) 06 Jul 2017 13:23:55
Tampa. Same reason as McRazzle. Without Price they struggle. Tampa has proven they can win without Stammer. I guess one off year erases SCF and ECF in back to back seasons.

5.) 06 Jul 2017 14:45:01
Oh really? Without stamkos they missed the playoffs didn't they? just like montreal I guess. But wait didn't montreal have several other injuries too that year I guess like Tampa this season as we'll. but the truth is both teams can still win without price or stamkos but when other key players go down too that's when they really take the hit. Price is probably leaned on a little more due to the fact he's a goalie. but take away the majority of teams number 1 goalies and they will struggle . Stamkos is as important to his team it's only about the same as when pacioretty gets injured. ( that's just a little shot lol I know stammer is better when he's playing but you know check out the stats in each of there last full seasons hmmmmmmm. Lol)

6.) 06 Jul 2017 15:20:35
I'm a habs fan and that is pretty hard to answer. First off, comparing Stamcos to Price is just not a talking point at all. Typically if you run a starting goalie and back up instead of the 1A 1B scenario, loosing your goalie for an entire year is detrimental unless your lucky enough to have Murry on a rookie contract with MAF as your back up.
So, putting that aside, roster as is - hate to say it but I'd probably go for Tampa. The habs had some good things going for them last year but MB screwed everything up.

7.) 06 Jul 2017 15:51:47
Thunder what were those good things they had going for them? Radulov?

8.) 06 Jul 2017 15:58:48
Tampa-Stammer- True player a franchise can build around like Price and is a 1c that Montreal dosent have

Kucherov- Better then any forward on Montreal. Huge play off Preformer. Again Montreal dosent have an Elite forward although Mac PAC is only a tier below.

Johnson-Would be Montreals 1c

Hedman- better then Weber and Much better

Stralman- a 2D Montreal dosent have.

Vais-one of the young up and coming goalies of the NHL

Tampas prospect pool>>>Montreals

Tampa has one of the best teams in the NHL and are easily better.

9.) 06 Jul 2017 16:14:41
Also who the hell is this bottom 6 forward group that 25 teams would swap there's for? Kunitz Callahan gourde paquette brown and condra? OOoooooo that's impressive. i mean draisitl is one of the first to judge other people on here when they over value there own team a little but that is one of the worst things I've heard on here. i wonder how the arbitration hearings are going to go for Johnson and palat I'm suprised that wizard yzerman couldn't get both of those guys signed for minimum wage.

10.) 06 Jul 2017 16:30:52
As a Habs fan. ill always take my Habs., my heart talking. with my head. i'm going Tampa. does this include GMs? Lol.

11.) 06 Jul 2017 17:04:42
You know they went to ECF 1 win from a second straight SCF without Stammer 2 years ago right? Amd played 700 hockey post all star break also without him. They can win without Stamkos they had an awful half-3/ 4 of a season likely partially due to complacency and partially exhaustion. That shouldn't happen this year.

12.) 06 Jul 2017 17:09:57
Also Hab. While i don't agree its a bottom 6 that 25 teams would trade for, bottom six is likely Kunitz/ Killorn-Point-Gourde/ Callahan Erne/ Brown-Paquette/ Dumont-Callahan/ Gourde with an outside chance of Cirelli or Peca getting in the mix. that's solid with a lot of depth/ options. I also highly doubt Palat or Johnson end up with a hearing they'll be signed before it gets there.

13.) 06 Jul 2017 22:18:26
Ok jbs32 that's fair enough at least we agree that the bottom 6 is not top 6 in the league. So what about that goaltending do you think 25 teams would swap there's for tampas?

14.) 07 Jul 2017 01:27:06
I think its a lot closer than you do. Vasi took the #1 and ran with it after Bishop trade. He's 23 and still getting better he's a young goalie to build a team around. Not a lot of teams have that.

15.) 07 Jul 2017 12:20:21
Well, point proven I guess. Even Habs fans agree with me and even mention Bergevin (and his moves) as part of the reason why. Lol, couldnt prove my points any better.

As for that bottom 6 and G comment: Vasy is 22, has huge potential and is signed for 3 more years at 3.5m. So tell me which teams dont swap their goalie for Vasy. Montreal, obviously, and who else? Gibson and Murray are about eqaul, so no reason for PIT and ANA to swap. I give you Holtby. That's 4, who else?
In my books, Killorn, Callahan, Kunitz, Gourde, Paquette, Brown/ Condra is a top 5 bottom 6 group in the NHL. The first 3 mentioned are usual mainstays in the top 6 on at least 15-20 teams in the league, soooo.

Also, that Johnson/ Palat comment is pretty stupid. Just because they filed for arbitration, they can still agree on a deal before the hearing. Just had to do it by yesterdays deadline. I'll get back to you on that as soon as SY has signed them for a combined cap hit lower than 11m prior to their hearings.

Also, why the anti-hab bias comment? I explicitely called people to put away any and all feelings towards teams/ players/ site users, lol.

Tampa missed the playoffs because they had several guys injured as a main reason. Further reasons include what you probably call an off year, as jbs said. Team wasnt doing particularly well defensively. Still made a huge push from Feb on and missed by a couple points because of that stupid loser points rule which got TOR in the playoffs instead.

Sergachev for Drouin deal is fair, especially if TB gets that add. 2nd.

MON is nothing w/ o Price, srsly. TB made it to the (conference) finals without Stamkos and Bishop and partly Stralman, so much for that.

Also, all that stuff you said that I said: most isnt true. I might overvalue a Lightning player from time to time, sure, everyone does. But I'm truly far from being a homer for my team. I admit when there are problems, like Cooper is for example. His management or better, the organizations management of high draft picks has been pretty bad (see: Koekkoek, Drouin, DeAngelo) . I totally dislike and disagree with their current shift from talent to leadership/ intangibles both in drafting and signing players. See, I have no problem admitting flaws with my team. But if you seriously would choose the Habs roster over TBs, you're either the biggest homer in hockey history, or simply have no small clue about hockey.

Yzerman sure has made bad decisions like signing Girardi. But he's proven to be ultra-patient while making important moves.
What would he have gotten for Drouin had he traded him back when he asked to be traded? Maybe a 2nd rounder if he got lucky. Now he got one of the best D prospects in the league. At the deadline, he unloaded Filppulas contract for a 7th rd pick. He dealt away Bishop and got a nice return for a rental goalie. Kings paid a solid price for a handful of Bishop games. And there's been many more.

16.) 07 Jul 2017 12:53:15
We'll at least now your admitting there are some flaws with your team . And that yzerman has made some not so great moves. i was starting to think you had completely lost it. I mean for awhile there the way you were talking about the lightning team and management I had to check to see if they were after winning the cup the last 3 years. Sometimes it's good to stick it to someone from time to time it helps bring them back to reality. i never mind when someone makes a statement and says in my opinion or I think but you haven't been like this lately. And with regards to the not having a clue about hockey lol. I've forgotten more about hockey then you will ever know. But that's neither here nor there. IMO I would take the habs roster over tampas. I would also take the habs prospects and management over tampas. But that's my choice. Please don't call anyone a homer again it's like the kettle calling the pot black.

17.) 07 Jul 2017 14:44:29
Man this is like a twilight zone episode with some of you guys. Not all but some. The next time someone ask the question on here about who are the most overrated players on this site. I think it should include the majority of the Tampa roster.

18.) 07 Jul 2017 17:28:47
both of you shut up, habs homer and lightning homer are always always going to pick their own teams, homers.

as for me, i still take tampas roster over habs roster, better d, far superior forwards.

price is the best goalie in the world but is going to be paid wayy to much for wayy to long come 2018-2019 season, i take vasy for long haul.

19.) 07 Jul 2017 19:08:29
Lol, I've never claimed there are no flaws. If you had followed what I've been saying on here for more than a year, you'd know. I've mentioned the Cooper thing multiple times as well as me dislking the skill/ grit shift.
I know you're just trying to provoke me because you apparently cannot respond to most points I made (nor did you answer my questions), but here's just one thing: my opinion on anything hasn't changed one bit. everything I said in the long text above is stuff I've been saying for a long time, so no, you did not "bring me back to reality". Wasnt necessary.
Of course it's all my opinion, guess that's obvious, but most is considered common sense, imo. Like taking TBs roster over Montreals. 6 out of 6 people commenting (you and me excluded) agreed with TB over MON and I'm sure 95/ 100 would with that 5 guys being hardcore MON homers, just like you are.
Oh and the same goes for the prospects and management. Even with Serg on MON, TBs prospects were most likely better. But distract him from MON and add him to TB and it's as much of a homerun as it gets.

Which TB player is overvalued, in your opinion? Usually players from smaller market teams tend to be less frequently overvalued than those from bigger market teams.

20.) 07 Jul 2017 19:53:38
I just don't see it man I see the habs being better then the lifghting in every aspect except top 6 forwards and top pair defence everything else montreal has the edge only slightly on a couple things but still an edge. kucherov was dynamite last year and hedman is a beast but other then that I don't really envy anything else. stamkos if he returns to 50 goal form would be great too but I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen. to each his own I guess, we will just let the results do the talking for us.

21.) 07 Jul 2017 22:23:42
In every aspect besides top 6 F and top 2 D? Well, there's not too much left. The two things you do give TB the edge, are super important and decisive for a teams success.
I can't see how anyone would take MONs bottom 6 F or their 3-7 D over Tampas (and that's not necessarily about TB being superb, but also about MON being bad), but well. MON does have the obvious edge in goal right now, but if I'm starting a team right now, I'd take Vasy over Price factoring in age and contract.

As you said, we'll let the results speak for itself. Just pray that Price won't get injured, because if he does, you can order your Rasmus Dahlin jersey already.

22.) 08 Jul 2017 00:55:40
Yeah I'm not worried about price the habs have a lot of depth in goal. Unlike Tampa. But in the meantime you better hope stamkos can play more then a handful of games this year and the rest of your top six don't continue there collective downward spiral. Also you better hope that shabby defense core plays better then most intelligent hockey people think they can or you may just be stuck iwith that 14th overall pick again.

23.) 08 Jul 2017 00:59:39
Can you girls please stop whining? Tampa is the better team in every category other than goaltending. If Stamkos was healthy last year they would've been in the playoffs. Hab you have to admit that Montreal is pretty weak after Price, Weber, Pacioretty and Drouin. Only one of those guys are young and the cupboards are empty.

24.) 08 Jul 2017 04:45:57
Sorry can't admit that cupboards are nowhere near empty. Good depth at every position. No mcdavid or Matthews of course but those guys are impossible to get without the first overall pick. Habs have a better prospect pool then most on here think. But like I said earlier we can wait till the season starts to debate some more. I'm confident in my team. I'm not saying they are tops in the league or anything but I think they are in better shape overall then tampa that's all I'm saying. I really like the picks they made this year at the draft I like the fact they didn't overpay to keep some free agents. I like the alzner signing a little high but as I've said before habs got to pay a little extra to cover the higher taxes. And I love the drouin trade. So combine that with the fact they were a first place team last year again I think they are going to be in the mix this year. couple younger guys like hudon scherbak mccarron etc might get more playing time this year and julien will be more familiar with the players this year as we'll.

25.) 08 Jul 2017 05:50:09
Well it really doesn't matter that much because the leafs are going to be better than both of them next year anyways.

26.) 08 Jul 2017 14:36:42
That's very possible charles.

27.) 08 Jul 2017 15:26:38
Oh and may I add:

*this post is purely for admiring Steve Yzerman*

What a deadline day for the Lightning. SY did everything he needed to do and more. Dealt UFAs Bishop and Boyle the days before and got something good for them in return.
The Filppula trade was just crazy good. He got rid of a 5m cap hit for an aging player not producing well for (almost) ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. In the end the trade looks like this:
TB gave: 7th round pick
TB got: 5m critical cap room for next year to resign all of Johnson, Palat, Drouin + an extra protection slot in the expansion draft, which means they will likely get to keep Killorn instead of losing him.

Shipping out all the contracts does not only help next season because those contracts are not on the books any longer. By creating cap room RIGHT NOW, Yzerman can apply the performance bonuses for Drouin, Vasilevskiy and Brayden Point to this years cap, which he otherwise would have had to do next year. This adds around 1m to TBs 17/ 18 cap space.

Additionally, he brought in two guys that will help Syracuse compete for the Calder Cup in experienced AHL goalie Mike McKenna and AHL first line C Froese, which he got in the Boyle deal from TOR.

All in all, some more magic made by SY.
Yzerman is Jedi, finally confirmed.

1.) 02 Mar 2017 19:53:19
I do find it amusing that he was able to turn a useless 2017 pick into a 2018 pick and dump salary with the Streit move giving Pitts what they need from their arch rival. I bet Philly fans are irate over this.

Most likely burnt the Philly trading partnership for years to come over this one.

2.) 02 Mar 2017 20:12:38
At first when I saw he flipped Streit for a 4th I was shocked at that being the return. But once I thought it over and realized what it meant (like you've mentioned above) it's actually quite amazing what he did.

3.) 02 Mar 2017 21:29:40
Yeah, Stevie Y has done many great things since last season. Signing Stamkos, Kucherov and Namestnikov to acceptable/ bargain deals, and the points you listed above, to name a few.
The only mistake he made was the Killorn deal imo, moneys probaly ok, but the 7 yrs are questionable.
But all in all Yzerman is doing an excellent job.

4.) 02 Mar 2017 23:50:55
Much respect for Yzerman. one of the smartest men in hockey for sure.

5.) 03 Mar 2017 21:49:36
^I agree on the Killorn term thing.

6.) 04 Mar 2017 03:16:15
Bishops return was good?

7.) 04 Mar 2017 16:34:09
The one thing I truly admire is the fact that he got Stammer at 8.5/ 8. How. Wizardry? Maybe.

8.) 04 Mar 2017 23:40:28
Where are they in the standings again?

9.) 05 Mar 2017 09:39:42
What do standings have to do with the job he did at the deadline?
Oh and where was Montreal in the standings one year ago?
Every team has down years, and TB is not officially out yet, so you better wait with those comments.

Okay so, to kinda start things off:

Who would in general be interested in joining this site fantasy hockey league?

This is just stating interest in order to see how many managers are approx interested. Keep in mind, while we don't know yet, how much activity will be needed during the season, it's for sure required to stay active all year and at least stop by once a week to make sure you can set your lineup for the coming week.

All other things (one-year vs. keeper/ general set-up/ scoring wtc. ) of the league can be discussed later I'd say.

The only thing I'd already like to know is whether you would prefer to use Yahoo or Fantrax.
From my point of view, each offers (dis-) advantages. I played both, both are good platforms, imo.
I feel like Yahoo is a bit wasierfor s. o playing the first time, maybe better to understand. Fantrax offers a better league chat and very deep keeper tools (which we prolly won't use) .

So (as a first test of your effort to stay active) send me an e-mail. E-Mail should contain:

! Your username on here!
your preference of Yahoo/ Fantrax

I'll give everyone a week and update this next weekend stating how many managers have shown interest.

Oh and after all this, I hope you guys are still okay with me being commish. Last year, there were no difficulties and we had a good time, I think.

So, send the mails and cheers.

1.) 19 Aug 2016 17:42:02

19 Jul 2016 08:43:38
Concerning the NYR/ OTT deal, a few things:

1. I think Brassard is widely undervalued. Very good player, I'd love him on my team as a good #2 or superb #3 center.
2. Good for NYR they made a deal that helps them in the future fo the first time in about 20 years, I guess. Zibanejad is worse right now, but I'd say roughly even potential plus a 2nd rounder. Slight edge to NYR.
3. Someone on Twitter pretty much nailed it IMO: I get the trade from a Rangers perspective, they get younger and a top 60 pick. I don't get it from a Sens point of view, sens are not a team a veteran away from contending.

03 Jul 2016 17:48:09
What would TB be able to get for Callahan?

1.) 03 Jul 2016 17:58:50
He is a solid player but that contract holds him down a lot my opinion is maybe a 2nd possibly a 3rd or a prospect of lower cailbre.

2.) 03 Jul 2016 19:18:03
Evander Kane.

3.) 04 Jul 2016 05:27:07
Dale weise or rnh.

4.) 04 Jul 2016 07:02:31
You think Weise and RNH are equal value wise?

5.) 04 Jul 2016 09:37:20
See Bud, I think that's interesting. Some say, TB would have to add a decent piece for like a 7th in return to ship out the contract. Some say, he'd get decent value back (like a 2nd/ 3rd as you said) .
Right now, I'd trade him for a mid-late pick. This contract causes a cap crunch for TB the next 4 years. Easily not worth 5.8m. Trade him and they can keep all Triplets and many others.

Finest currently is not part of that 9, we're debating whether or not to let him join atm.

I've seen sources suggest he'll get more than McDavid, because Buffalo minus Eichel is worse than EDM minus McDavid (since no Draisaitl, etc on BUF) . Doubt he gets 13 or so, but would at the very least expect double digits as well.

makes no sense for either team.

Sorry, GR81, we've had that on the site like a couple weeks ago I'd guess and are already all set and done pretty much. If anyone bails during the year, we'll let you know!

Well, before I will say sth to a few players, let me say this in general to what you said in your last paragraph: If you read what my first post said, we actually agree in everything, I guess. I said they are "capable of", which has nothing to do with saying they will 100% reach that. I used the same terms the original post used for comparisons sake.

Callahan: I think he's still capable of 30 in a fully healthy year, he was hampered by injuries big time last year and the year prior.

Johnson: I went 3 years back for every player, so def not to catch Johnsons 77 points. It doesn't matter, just take the last two years and his average for 82 games is still exactly 50 points.

Point and Gourde: guess its a matter of point of view and also watching them play more. I watched them play a lot and I'm confident both will reach or are at the very least capable of the point totals I assigned.

Namestnikov: As you could know, Stamkos played 17 games and after that, that line was obviously not togehter anymore and Vladdy also got put away from Kuch. that's why my hope is that a full season next to 91 and 86 would def get him 40 pts. I mean, that's not even a testemant to Vladdy, but I guess you can put pretty much every player next to 91 and 86 for an entire season and he'd get at least 40.

Well Shankar, would help to set those points you mentioned in perspective, huh? as TSS did in the original post, I assumed everyone plays all 82 games.

Callahan: Last 3 years was on pace for 58, 31 and 18 points but was hampered by injuries a lot. If you don't see him getting back to 40, fine, put him to 30, but don't tell me he isn't capable of that in 82 games.

Johnson: case for him is even easier. if he plays all 82, safe bet for 50 points, imo. Last 3 years, was on pace for 77, 45 and 56 points, which equals ~60 per year, so why wouldn't he get 50?

Point: Point had a great first season, why wouldn't he improve on it? How do career points matter? Point was on pace for 48 points last year, so saying he is capable of 50 in year 2 seems reasonable to me.

Namestnikov: he was fire on a line early last season with Stamkos and Kucherov until 91 went down. I expect this line to be together again, which would def make it possible for him to get 40+.

And srsly Shankar, how is saying Gourde has 9 points any productive criticism. He's played a grand total of 20 NHL games and has been on pace for 33 points. Although its a small sample size, why wouldn't he be able to be 90% the player he was last year?

All in all, some not well thought out criticism while not setting data in relation to injuries and number of GP. I expect better from you, Shanks ;-)

I'd argue TB can at least match that. Capable of:

50+ points: Stamkos, Johnson, Kucherov, Palat, Point
40+ points: Killorn, Callahan, Namestnikov, Kunitz
30+ points: Gourde.

Looking forward to Hab. trying to defend and make sense of those moves. going to be entertaining.

Drouin was a great acquisition, but they paid a steep price (I hope, haha) . D is really a huge question, Weber is not getting any younger, too (man would it be great to have an elite D just entering his prime, huh? ) . They'll most likely make the playoffs, because Price, but I see another first round exit as best possible outcome. If Price is injured for 20 games or more, they'll be a 20ish team.
