Sharks Trade
Meier*

Leafs Trade
Kerfoot
NRobertson (AHL)
1st Round Pick 2023

*Sharks retain 25% of Meier's contract.

Leafs add a Top 6 Winger that they are looking for, Muzzin will have to be traded before the season starts to get under the Cap and also resign Sandin.

Sharks get more than they got for Burns in this proposal, and being in a rebuild this is a typical trade(s) Grier will be making to go forward for San Jose.

Thoughts ?

Meier would fetch a whole lot more than that.

MoxNix
So please tell me what Meier would fetch in a trade?
He is on an expiring contract to start, he is a very good player but in the same category as WNylander, who has 2 years left on his contract not 1 year like Meier.
Grier trades Burns a stud on Defense that's signed another 3 season's, plus retained salary for less of a package I am proposing.
So to say SJ will get much more you haven't been paying attention to the trades this offseason.

He’s an RFA and that’s not even close to enough value.

If Meier were to become available he'd be the 2nd biggest trade of this offseason after Tkachuk. Were you paying attention to what the Flames received in the Tkachuk trade?

Meier >>> Nylander

Meier > every Leaf except Matthews.

Dude just look at what Tkachuk got. If they somehow got Meier then i think you're giving up Nylander or Bunting, 1st and Knies. Stop proposing lopsided trades lol. Kerfoot is a solid 3rd liner, Robertson is an alright prospect, and that first will be around 20-32 I'm guessing plus you want them to retain? San Jose blocks your number dude. I'm not trying to hate cause i really like Kerfoot but he wouldn't hold much value to a team like San Jose especially when they're giving up an elite player like Meier.

I think i may have figured out who the armchair gm is on cap friendly that has been posting lopsided Leafs trades...Pinbaaaall

I can't believe you tried to use a trade for 37 year old Brent Burns as a comparable for 25 year old pending RFA power forward Timo Meier.

With Tkachuk gone Timo Meier would be at or near the top of the list of most teams free agent wish lists. He'd fetch a return a lot closer to the one Tkachuk got than what you proposed too!

I think Meier’s value is somewhere between Tkachuk and Fiala, closer to Fiala. Except San Jose has no reason to take whatever offer they get like Minny did. Honestly a 1st and Robertson are a pretty good start if San Jose needed to move him obviously need to add though.

Speaking from a Flames point of view several players and prospects that Calgary normally wouldn't consider trading would be available in a trade for Timo Meier.

That includes prospects Pelletier, Coronato and maybe Wolf too, forwards Mangiapane and any forward under him on the depth chart, any defenseman other Andersson (Weegar too if he resigns) and possibly even Huberdeau.

Wait a second everyone attacking me on my proposal.
Kevin Fiala and Meier are completely comparable in player value, what did The Wild get for him?
If you all don't know a Defenceman (prospect) who is less of a prospect than NRobertson, and a 19th Overall Pick, yes Meier is one season away from being a RFA but what I proposed is very comparable and adding Kerfoot and NRobertson being a better Prospect than LAKings gave Minny it's about right not having to sign Meier until after next season.
The Fiala trade set the asking price for similar players in similar situations, that's how the NHL works, that's like selling a similar house for much more when the market says different, that is also comparable to what I just explained.

Setting aside the lousy value everyone else is pointing out;

- Meier makes 6M

- Kerfoot makes 3.5M

- leafs are 1.493M OVER the Cap, with one roster spot left to fill

Think it through Pinball…. steady……. steady…….

PS. Does Scooby have permission to trade one more 1st? Won’t the next GM need that for the next rebuild?

It’s like selling your house after a divorce and having no choice compared to waiting it out and getting the best price. Lol I don’t know but I don’t think that package gets Meier. We’ve seen the same package about 300 times so it’s a little nauseating to see and makes it have less value.

Yeah Miere isn’t a better player then Marner and doesn’t bring the on ice value Tavares does as a centre.
