With what Toronto has done so far in the offseason and what they need in players and Cap this proposal makes sense.

With what The Islanders haven't done yet and need to make some changes this proposal also makes sense for them.

Seems better for NYI, but it looks like it’d work, unless Muzzin or Holl block it.

This proposal would give Toronto 1.9 million to sign Sandin, if you send Simmonds to The Marlies that's 2.8 million to sign Sandin with a 22 man roster, plenty of Cap to resign Sandin.
Player and Cap Space Wise it would help The Leafs, MMartin would be The Patrick Maroon of The Leafs on the 4th Line, JBailey had great success playing on a line with Tavares with NY, and Mayfield is a perfect Defense Partner for Rielly.

Sandin will cost about $2.15-2.3mil to sign for 2-3 years. No need to send Simmonds down, either play short a Forward to make up the cap space (Dress 19 instead of 20 players) OR add a Pick or Prospect for Retention on Bailey

Actually, Liljegren signed for $2.8mil/ 2yrs, so Sandin will likely sign for the same = $1.4mil/ yr as well.
