EDM's Puljujarvi + Kassian + Barrie FOR WPG's Hellebuyck + Dillon

Not anywhere close for Winnipeg.
They give up the two best pieces for a marginal bottom 6 player looking for a raise, a cap dump without compensation and a bad defenseman with a bad contract. There isn't a single piece Winnipeg would want if moving Hellebuyck.

Start with Holloway and Edmonton's first minimum for Helly alone and then add a mid round pick for Dillon and you get Chevy talking.

You know WPG & their needs better than I do. Looks like WPG could use more toughness (could re-sign Sandford for much less), a 2RW, more scoring from their RD + they have lots of $$$ tied up between LD's Morrisey, Dillon & Schmidt, so one has to go (they likely prefer to move Schmidt), especially since LD's Stanley & Heinola are available & ready to play more

EDM is looking to move these 3 Players & $$$ out, so wouldn't be interested in giving up Picks or Top Prospects, when they could just over pay for Campbell, Husso or Kuemper with no acquisition cost through Free Agency.

Not even close to what Hellebuyck alone is worth. In fact it wouldn't be enough for Dillon alone either. Kassian and Barrie are cap dumps and Puljujarvi isn't worth very much.

If edmonton wants to move those 3 players and their money out good picks, prospects and/ or players is exactly what it'd cost them.

I agree it’s not close but Barrie isn’t a cap dump and I don’t imagine Dillon has much value.

I disagree on Barrie being a Cap Dump. Hard to find High Scoring Right Shot Offensive D-Men for $4.5mil/ yr, look at what Letang, S. Jones, D. Hamilton, Petry are & what Klingberg will be getting. Sure he's not Great Defensively, but that's not why a Team wants him. Just be sure to partner him with a Defensive LD

Puljujarvi still has very good value and a high ceiling. He's in the Top-10 Scoring RW Under 25. Good Two-Way Player with Excellent Work Ethic, but EDM should sell high on him and use his salary for other needs

Kassian on the other hand I can't defend. He's hit and miss. Could be a 0.50PPG, but often times he just doesn't show up or bring the energy he's known & wanted for. He's very inconsistent.

What do we figure Hellebuyck worth!? Never seen a Goalie bring much back in return on a Trade, so not much to go by. MAF (50% ret. ) only returned a late 2nd (56th) . Maybe WPG wants to save money and go with Comrie instead!?

WPG paid TWO 2nds for Dillon last summer and only paid a 3rd for Schmidt. I believe they want to move one of them out.

Puljujarvi is still worth an early 1st, Barrie with his Team Friendly contract is probably worth TWO 2nd's (if not a 2nd + a 3rd) and Kassian's worth a 5th maybe?

The difference with Fleury was that Vegas was forced to trade him due to poor cap management.

It's hard to say what Hellebuyck's value is. He's a top 5 goalie in the league for sure and the Jets have no intention of trading him.

So, a "fair" offer likely gains no traction, it would likely need to be an offer that no team would really want to make.

Unless, of course, the Jets decide to go full rebuild and sell off everything of value. Then maybe a futures heavy package does it.

Yes, Vegas gave Fleury away to Chicago get out of his $7mil contract, but Chicago traded him to Minnesota at the deadline for a conditional 2nd. Difference is age and rental, but they’re both pretty good Goaltenders. Just heard EDM might be interested in Hellebuyck and was thinking WPG might want to dump some salary is all.

Edmonton is interested in half the goaltenders on the planet. That doesn't mean anyone is going to be giving them a really good one for their unwanted players.

Puljujarvi likely gets a 3rd from Carolina. Can't see them being dumb enough to give up a second for him though I suppose there's a slight chance since he was pretty with Aho at the world juniors years ago.

But there's no way anyone gives up a first for him.

The guy hasn't performed even when playing with McDavid and Draisaitle. He's considered a play killer in the oilers dressing room, has asked for a trade TWICE now, refused to report to the minors and went back to Finland to pout about it for a year when he didn't get his trade wish granted the first time.
