I don't like whiny entitled rookies, so Valimaki has to go and bring up Mackey to practice, develop and play with the Team, so he's ready to play more next year.

Can we get a 1st Round Pick back for Valimaki, so we can draft and develop either a Right Shot RW or RD for the future, as their just aren't enough of these out there, so always cost or bring a premium

OR how about Trading Valimaki and Lucic to Boston for Taylor Hall!? Retain the difference on Lucic's contract if need be.

My preference is for Monahan to go over Gaudreau, not because I don’t think Monahan will rebound from his injury, but because Boston seems to be in need of a Centre to replace Krejci and I think both Monahan and Taylor Hall are an equal gamble at this point, but should still produce, so this trade might help both teams. Calgary is in need of more scoring/finishing, which I believe Hall can still do.
Taylor Hall may want to play in front of his friends in family in Calgary and may elevate his game in doing so.

I love the way Gaudreau is playing but if he won’t commit to Calgary for 7-7.5 mil, Calgary needs to get something in return for him instead of absolutely nothing as a result of free agency. Boston is close to where he wants to be, so he may accept a trade there as well as New Jersey or Philadelphia.

TrevorA. I totally agree. Whiny rookies. I also don't agree with a whiny 1st or 2nd year players. Why do they find they have the need to ask for top shelf money when they haven't done enough in the league to warrant it.

Thanks @balsam8 Can't blame them for wanting more, but just because you're drafted in the 1st round and are highly touted, doesn't mean you don't have to earn it. Valimaki was supposed to be a started for Calgary this year, but lost his job to Kylington and Zadorov. Sutter's got to put the best team on the ice, period. That said, there's nothing saying Valimaki can't still be a stud defenseman in the NHL, maybe he just needs a new opportunity (like Sam Bennett got in Florida). In any event, we don't need the distraction and have Mackey or could do my latest proposed trade for Riley Stillman out of Chicago. I understand trades need to make sense and improve each team and player to work, so I'm proposing willing trade partners where I foresee players want to be.

Not sure if I agree with this take on Valimaki's comments to that Finnish news outlet are right or not. It didn't sound great in english but I assume the comments were translated Finnish. The translation might be making it sound worse than it actually was.

You can give him the benefit of the doubt, but I found it to be entitled and unprofessional, plus he's expendable at this point, he lost the job to Kylington and Zadorov and Connor Mackey outplayed him last year as well. Doesn't seem like a Sutter guy either TBH = Trade him while his value is hopefully still high.
