Calgary wouldn't do this trade as Tkachuk is as close to untouchable for the Flames as a player can get.

If Gretzky was traded there are no Untouchables.
Calgary upgrades huge on Defense and Mikheyev isn't Tkachuk but would fit in in the Top 6.
For Toronto this truly opens the door for Lehtonen plus they get tougher and add scoring on LW, plus Tkachuk and Marner where magic together in The OHL.

Calgary already has Giordano, Hanifin, Valimaki, Kylington on the left side. They wouldn’t give up Tkachuk, he’s untouchable

Sure no playing is truely untouchable. Anyone can be traded if the right offer is made but it'd take an offer that no sane GM will make to pry Tkachuk out of Calgary.

Also while Morgan Reilly is pretty good the Flames don't need another good LD. They've been shopping Hanifin because they have too many LD already.

I don't see Toronto trading Reilly anyhow, their D is bad enough already, it'd be terrible without him.

This is a bad trade. Tkachuk is more valuable than reilly. Mikheyev isn't the difference.

Anyways, Toronto trading their best D, for another start forward seems silly. Calgary trading possibly their best forward for a D that will be fighting for 2nd line doesn't make sense either.
