I know Marcusjoe and Islandjet don't want to trade Laine, but I really feel they should. Try and get a top 4 Defenceman. Who can help on the power play and penalty kill.
Maybe
WPG
Laine

CAR.
Hamilton
Foegele.

Or

WPG
Laine

ANA
Lindholm
Rackell
Just ideas for conversations.

Winnipeg fires Maurice and hire Gallant would be real nice.

Hamilton would be a good target being an RHD, but obviously wouldn't be considered unless a reasonable dollar long term contract could be agreed to beforehand, as a rental, he isn't a starting point.

Lindholm as a LD and Rakell, just don't do anything for the Jets if Winnipeg is giving up Laine. Both are only under contract for 2 more years each and neither fill long long term holes for Winnipeg. I don't see any way Chevy considers either of them with the limited term on their contracts. I could see Lindholm being of interest as a short term LD fix in a smaller deal, but again it wouldn't involve Laine.

No from Anaheim and no from Carolina

The one thing I agree with Muzza is that the Jets fire Maurice and hirer Gallant.

The way I was looking at it is Jets are pretty strong up front with
Scheifele
Wheeler
Connor
Ehlers
Stastny
and really week at the back end with
Morrissey
Pionk if he can duplicate last season
Maybe Demelo that’s it. Their D isn’t that good at all.
Needs real help.
My opinion Laine has the highest trade value.

I read a possible decent trade would be
Laine and Niku
To BOS for DeBrusk and McAvoy.

Yeah Muzza it definitely makes sense to upgrade the defense if the Jets move Laine.

McAvoy would be another good target, but I don't think Boston would want to move him. DeBrusk is likely rumoured because Boston would like to move him, but I don't see Chevy being interested as DeBrusk again doesn't do anything for the Jets.

There's why at this point, I don't think Laine will be moved before next off season as there just doesn't seem to be a trade that gives Winnipeg what they need if they move Laine. 2C short and long term isn't as big a need now and it's tough to move a top 4D when everyone's rosters are basically set.

The standard deal offered by posters here of a wing downgrade and an iffy prospect or two aren't going to make Chevy budge as it doesn't improve the team.

I still think Laine will be dealt this year. Maybe it’s during the season but a team like Carolina, maybe another couple, will have a lot of good Dmen that will be exposed in an expansion draft. Hurricanes have Pesce, Slavin, Skjei, Hamilton, Gardiner, Fluery, and Bean. Can only protect 3, unless they go 8 total skaters instead of 7F, 3D and 1G which seems unlikely.

I see them as a good trade partner for a number of reasons.

Strong on D, weak on F (opposite of jets)
Sebastian Aho has had good results playing with Laine
Have the cap space to lock up Laine.

DeBrusk fills RW and some offence up front.
Jets trade Laine for a good defenceman then leaves a hole in the forwards. DeBrusk covers that hole. Gives Jets options on lines.
Personally I think the Laine trade for McAvoy and DeBrusk is great trade for the Jets.
But Boston already lost Krug and possibly Chara.
This would be a bad trade for Boston.

Sampson made a good point with Carolina as a trade partner for WPG.
