Supposedly Edmonton has a lot of interest in pageau. So.

Ott : pageau, namestnikov, tychonic, 2021 2nd

Edm : Bouchard, Gagner, 2020 3rd


Ottawa gets an extra 3rd this year by dropping next year's 2nd, and gets a solid shut down defense prospect to compliment Chabot or brannstrom

Edmonton gets a playoff performing top 9c/ w who can play any situation and help their pk in pageau as well as another top 9 guy who can play any situation and help their pk in namestnikov, by downgrading Bouchard to tychonic who is still good enough to make the NHL in the next couple years, as well as dropping this year's 3rd to gain a 2nd next year, and dropping a terrible Gagner contract in the process.

So a former 10th OVA stud D that will become a great 2nd pair or #2 guy, a contract that sucks but is done after this year and a 3rd for 2 UFA both have never been more then a fringe 2nd line player a B-B+ prospect and a 2nd.
In my opinion Edmonton should not do this trade because they can’t keep the players and need the young stud D it’s not terrible but Edmonton could do lots better for a blue chip prospect.

Pageau is a UFA and only worth a 2nd round pick unless he resigns. Hall wouldn't re-sign prior to a trade and I don't see Pageau doing so either. Current rental Deal would include the 2nd, but also have to have whatever Pageau's Salary is back in the trade as well. No prospects like Bouchard or next year's 1st can be spared for a mere rental player playing less than half a season.

2020 3rd for Edm is already in pending mode with Calgary on the Lucic trade so can't use that in any trade till the end of the season to see if the conditions are met to have to give it to Calgary.

West is best just give it a rest whether rental or not, pageau has already been proven to be worth at least a 1st and a prospect, he's played his way into that status this year whether you like him or not.
