Sportsnet announced a trade, deals to be confirmed:

Hurricanes Trade: Justin Faulk, 2020 5th round pick

Blues Trade: Dominik Bokk, Joel Edmundson, 2021 7th round pick

Faulk reportedly agreed to 7 year, 45 million dollar extension with Blues. 6.5 million/year

I was never a Faulk fan ‘now I don’t hate him as much as some people on here but this is a trade and signing that I wouldn’t make if I’m the blues ‘I’d actually rather have edmundson @3mil then Faulk @6:5 plus they gave up a decent prospect as well sheeesh!

Trade isn't bad, but a terrible contract for a bad defenseman. I'm relieved the Jets didn't get suckered into this. You would think the Blues would have learned their lesson from Shattenkirk.

A month ago TyBa4 called you out for saying Edmundson was a top pairing d man. Hours ago you said St. Louis has 4 top 4 LD. Trading one at $3 million like habby said to gain a RD at 6.5 million, which St. louis has plenty of is questionable. I think daddy is drunk or has now decided Edmundson is garbage.

I like Faulk, the price was maybe a little high just because the contract is not great, Faulk is going to get paid 6.5 million until he's 35. Still not bad. I don't see Faulk slowing down anytime soon. On blues he could get 55+ point.

Memarcus Shattenkirk was great in St Louis, that’s why he got such a big contract from the Rangers. At the very least Shattenkirks success there could show they know how to utilize that type of player.

Memarcus is just jealous that wpg didn't get him and currently doesn't have a rhd worth a hoot with buff possibly retiring and trouba traded. Yet the blues have petro, parayko and now faulk. With that said he is still bitter blues whooped the jets in playoffs.

I really don’t like Faulk and I know he’s a far below average defensive player but looking at what blues did with Shatenkurk he’s going to be a force on the PP and will be solid on the 3rd pairing good pick up by blues very good pickup.

they had one of the beat writers for Carolina on the Fastlane (101.1 espN) yesterday after the trade and she stated that Faulk was very impressive defensively, offensively and physically last year toward end of season and playoffs. She thought he had finally got comfortable after a knee injury 1-2 year prior. So maybe he found his game again but he put up good numbers (statistically last year)

I also heard the thought is he could be moved to his off side and paired with Petro or parayko in the top two. So I could see the lines as follows

Faulk Petro
jaybo Parayko
dunn Gunner borts

But he wwill be given top PP time and hopefully he can help us in that area.

$6.5M for 7 years starting at the age 27 is pretty questionable. Pretty terrible contract imo.
Especially since Petro should get $10M. (So should Josi and Rielly will be worth $10M as well) .
