I would be very surprised to see the Jets trading Laine but they do the Jets won't accept 2nd line players, "B" prospects and draft choices. Now we can argue about what Laine can get in trade rumors.

It's either a hockey trade or a futures trade you don't get both. If Winnipeg wants to compete now then laine and Trouba get traded for a couple players that aren't as good but fill holes in there roster which is a 2C or a 3/ 4 defenceman. Or they look to retool and go with prospects and picks. First round picks and recently drafted prospects have more upside but also have never stepped foot on a NHL ice and can be complete busts. Everyone under values actual NHL players coming back to their team in trade because the have reached potential but as the saying goes one in the hand is worth two in the bush. The team trading the best player away usually loses Because your not getting an established NHL young star of the same calibre plus picks plus prospects.
