Both horrible.

Horton contract is not insured! Don't think Vegas want to pay 5 mill a year for a guy that doesn't play.

Yeah without insurance on Horton, very few teams can do it. I'm sure Lou tried it and wasn't going to happen.

I'm sure Lou didn't try to get rid of Horton, because no one can burn money like the Leafs, and why would he pay to get rid of problem that's not a problem?

I'm not saying he offered first round picks, but if there was an option to move him on that made sense, he would. As much as people think money is no object to the leafs, Lou and shanahan still have bosses in ownership to answer to and if they were able to get their owners off the hook of paying $20+ million for a guy that's never going to play, they could get that money for something else. It's not a cap problem, but it's still millions from someone's pocket who would appreciate not paying it if possible.

And what deal you propose that would even remotely make sense? You're not tricking someone into taking Horton or Lupul because they might have a bounce back year or something, and they clearly value picks and prospects more then the amount of money that those two are making. Believe me when I say that, with corporate ownership, they've thought this through in much more depth than you or I should bother to.

I think Toronto was spending over 80 million on players before the cap was introduced. In 12 years they haven't come close to that but raised ticket prices. I'm sure they are fine eating Hortons salary.

I don't think they ever spent that much, but I'm too lazy to go check. I always thought they were at a max of around 50-60 mil before the cap, with DET and NYR being the two that spent ridiculously, but I could be very wrong.

Vagas can't afford to pay Horton.
