With Thomas Chabot poor performance in orientation camp, you guys think he'll be traded.

Obviously not.

But, why not?

Ottawa is trying to get into the playoffs and Thomas Chabot can land them a good piece for their franchise.

Chabot was almost a point per game player in the QMJHL this year while playing good defensively.

Ottawas managment think that he'll challange for a starting spot this season, let's face it. He won't. Defencemen take longer to develop. No doubt he's a good defenceman, but he's not going to be effective in the NHL and that might crush his development.

Maybe a trade like this could work?

Ducks:

-Thomas Chabot
- Matt Puempel

Senators:

- Cam Fowler
- Jacob Silfverberg

====================

This gives the Senators help on the offence and defence.

Ducks get a really good prospect. Also, they can now sign Hamphus Lindholm (if they didn't yet)

And they built up with depth in FA they can fill Silfverbergs spot easily.

1.) 08 Jul 2016 09:47:21
I don't get the trade why trade a good prospect who might be better then fowler.

2.) 08 Jul 2016 10:17:08
No real reason for Anaheim to do this. They are in a win now mode.

3.) 08 Jul 2016 12:14:06
Ottawa says hell yes, Anaheim says hell no.

4.) 08 Jul 2016 14:19:36
There's literally zero chance Ottawa will trade their TOP d prospect only because he had one bad camp. Like let's get real. Chabot isn't going anywhere.

5.) 08 Jul 2016 14:38:43
McJesus they would trade him for that package Anahiem isn't trading Silverburg and Anahiem dose not need a D prospect. I'm from Saint John NB and I attended about 20 games this season and I will tell you every time he steps on the ice he makes a difference he was the best Dman in the Q easily. He has tremendous potential he can do anything on the ice. He is miles better then 13th overall pick Jakub Zbroil. You don't want to trade him but with that being said no one knows if his talent will translate into the NHL. There for he is not worth a young cheap top 6 forard and top 4 Dman.

6.) 08 Jul 2016 17:38:53
I literally just said Ottawa will not trade him lol.

06 Jul 2016 21:26:39
I thought about this trade before the NHL Draft but just forgot to post it.

St. Louis Blues:

- 2016 14th overall
- Rights to Alex Khokhlachev

Boston Bruins:

- Kevin Shattenkirk

============================

Bosotn gets right handed defenceman.

St. Louis clears space to resign Backes.

Blues select Dante Fabbro.

TysonBarrie

1.) 06 Jul 2016 22:21:15
Well pretty pointless considering none of this can happen now unfortunately lol.

2.) 06 Jul 2016 23:56:10
@ No duh, i just want to see if this is fair.

3.) 07 Jul 2016 05:39:55
Well clearly it's not haha blues asked for both first rounds and Pasternak haha so I doubt this works brotha.

06 Jul 2016 03:18:34
Trade Deadline:

Oilers:

- 2017 2nd
- Jake Virtanen

Vancouver:

- Griffin Reinhart
- Nail Yakupov

==================

I know that there are rumours going around that a trade might happen that is Virtanen for Yakupov straight up.

And i believe Benning thought about it and declined.

With Griffin Reinhart AND Nail Yakupov he fills 2 of his needs.
Forwards and defence.

Virtanen has the size and skill and plays a physical way which Peter Chiarelli likes.

And the second round pick is complimentary.

I know the value isn't here, but do you think Benning might accept?

TysonBarrie

1.) 06 Jul 2016 04:30:06
Wooooow Oilers take that. I'm super high on Virtanen and I love the game he plays, fast, skilled, and grit. He's not afraid to throw his weight around and he's got plenty of skill. Just tough if Vancouver takes this. Love it on the Oilers end tho. Good trade considering what I said.

2.) 06 Jul 2016 06:07:26
Considering Benning is the manager, they'd take it. Probably even less

3.) 06 Jul 2016 06:14:44
Get outta here Bergevin!

4.) 06 Jul 2016 06:16:08
No thanks from Canucks.

5.) 06 Jul 2016 06:17:31
@BJ96

No thanks from Canucks,

yes please from Benning :}.

6.) 06 Jul 2016 11:24:26
@Tyson Barrie
Lol fair enough. Yak and Reinhart aren't "Benning players" tho.

7.) 06 Jul 2016 12:33:37
So two bust equal a good player and 2nd round pick. I'll one up you. Magnus paravi + Tommy vanelliot

For
Virtanen
2nd rnd pick

See I can post stupid trades too lol.

8.) 06 Jul 2016 14:56:16
You post stupid trades all the time.

9.) 06 Jul 2016 16:36:08
Rr @MG69.

10.) 06 Jul 2016 19:13:10
Explain your thought process behind shatty being a #3 guy.

11.) 06 Jul 2016 19:26:47
Magnus Paravi?

Dying.

lololol.

12.) 06 Jul 2016 19:48:43
How are they a bust colt? Reinhart is 22 and Yakupov is also 22.

13.) 06 Jul 2016 19:48:43
How are they a bust colt? Reinhart is 22 and Yakupov is also 22.

14.) 06 Jul 2016 22:20:28
Explain how he's a number 1?

06 Jul 2016 03:13:38
Dallas Stars:

Tyson Barrie
Calvin Picard (? )

Colorado Avalanche:

Denis Guryanov
Jamie Oleksiak
Antti Niemi (? )
===================

I think Dallas can be a cup contender if they get more help on defence and get better goalies.

TysonBarrie

1.) 06 Jul 2016 04:26:58
Pretty bad for Colorado.

2.) 06 Jul 2016 05:57:58
@yup

Thanks for the feedback.

I just took a shot in the dark with this trade.

3.) 06 Jul 2016 19:37:59
Ya sorry man I should have said a few things of why I think that. Something along the lines of Pickard has more value to Colorado than Niemi, especially with having Varlamov pickard is younger, cheaper and maybe their future they are hoping.
And those other two guys do not equal Barrie.
This would literally be a dream trade for Dallas. IMO.

4.) 06 Jul 2016 19:39:10
And Colorado is an internal cap team. Having Neimi who costs more than Pickard and then Varlomovs $ as well in two goalies doesn't make much sense.

05 Jul 2016 19:58:56
Edmonton Oilers:

Cam Fowler

Anaheim Ducks:

Nail Yakupov
2017 1st

===================

Value is perfect imo .

Ducks need depth to go deep in the playoffs, yakupov at 2.5m for only 1 year is a perfect fit for them.

Oilers need a QB on their powerplay and another defenceman.

Oilers sign Fowler to a 3yr $5.75m

=====================

Oilers sign Kris Versteeg.

TysonBarrie

1.) 05 Jul 2016 20:07:33
Mcjesus literally posted this in the post before this one lol but whatever. The only issue is fowler another LHD which oilers don't need. But I think it's still not bad, value is there, however I'd rather send pouliot instead of yak if we're getting another LHD to free up more cap space bcuz like u said fowler could be upwards of 5mil/ year.

2.) 05 Jul 2016 20:08:51
Fowler is left handed so that's my only concern, why can't he just shoot right : (

3.) 05 Jul 2016 20:14:20
Good deal for both sides. Next year.

Same problem as Barrie. He'd be unprotected and plucked away after 1 year of service by Las Vegas.

UFA Old Vet for 1 year contract is the answer to Oilers D problem this year. Young D develops, re-address D next year or at Trade deadline when a good D-man costs only a 3rd round pick for a rental.

4.) 05 Jul 2016 20:20:40
It won't happen. Value might be there, but Chia has been REALLY adamant on acquiring a RIGHT handed dman. He heavily values having 3 righties and 3 lefties on the point.

5.) 05 Jul 2016 20:33:23
@McJesus

I think the Oilers bite the bullet with this one.

He is a quality defenceman.

6.) 05 Jul 2016 20:53:10
Oh 100% fowler is a good dman, but I think Chia is determined to find a right handed d, if they can't find one I think they wait.

7.) 05 Jul 2016 20:58:18
Please don't tell me your that dented that you think Pouliot will get Fowler? Please someone tell me besides being drafted way to high how this guy is worth so much. Like stop sounding idiotic and use your head. And fowler is already signed to a contract.

8.) 05 Jul 2016 21:48:39
This is a legit rumor going around. Everyone knows oilers are going after Barrie. But yesterday it's said that the ducks are in on the talks too now.
Oilers send 2017 1st top 5 protected to ducks. Ducks send fowler to aves. Aces send Barrie to oilers.
Adding in yak to the pick is also mentioned because they ducks do have interest in him.
Ducks and aves are a internal cap team. Fowler 2 more years at $4M is a good fit for the aves.
These are not my words.

9.) 05 Jul 2016 21:51:19
i honestly feel the same way about people valuing yakapov. He sucks total bust.

10.) 05 Jul 2016 23:04:50
Bud, i'm pretty sure everyone (well maybe not everyone) knows that there's 0% chance that Pouliot could get Fowler. The way I read otto's comment (im assuming your talking about this one) is that he was just stating that Oilers would rather send Pouliot because then you can also get rid of his cap hit. Its obvious that Pouliot will never get Fowler, or players of his value.

11.) 06 Jul 2016 00:21:33
All this talk about Edm adding another d man. WHY?
d men are at a premium right now. Why buy when stock is high? If I'm chia I wait and see what kind of team I have this year - park yak until trade deadline for a pick and prospect and wait until end of the season for our second rhd. With the emergence of Davidson we may not need one. And too - fowlers left shot.

12.) 06 Jul 2016 03:21:34
Sign Schenn to a cheap contract. 2 years 2.5 per maybe?

13.) 06 Jul 2016 03:24:22
Can Toronto get in on this three way? After the ducks get that Edmonton's 1st and Yak, Anaheim acquires JVR for Edmonton's 1st and Nattinen. That works for all teams involved:

Ducks get Yak and JVR to add skill to their wings
Edmonton gets the offensive right shot D man they want
Avs get a more steady all around d man
Leafs gain a pick and a centre prospect.

14.) 06 Jul 2016 04:32:04
DL7 did you read any of the other comments lol. Fowler is a left shot.

15.) 06 Jul 2016 05:58:42
I would love a three way.

;)

@DL7.

16.) 06 Jul 2016 14:46:52
I was responding to Yups comment about the possible Avs/ Ducks/ Oil trade rumours.

19 Jul 2016 19:48:57
What are your thoughts on Winnipeg's new prospect Logan Stanley?

Personally, i'm not a fan. The only thing i like about him his his size. But drafting for size has never turned out well.

I even thought that a player like Libor Hajek or Kale Clauge were better prospects than him.

TysonBarrie

1.) 19 Jul 2016 20:46:37
He kinda reminds me of a worse petro.

2.) 19 Jul 2016 22:08:13
He's got a wicked shot and apparently he can skate very well. But who knows. Could bust could be top 6 or top pair.

Since he is a first it's likely he will be a serviceable defenseman but you never know.

3.) 20 Jul 2016 03:43:09
He's only 18 you shouldn't count him out yet.

4.) 20 Jul 2016 04:32:38
His shot is ok and he's a solid skater for a guy his size (honestly kind of clonky IMO) . Solid defensive awareness with an active stick and some bite but struggles on the breakout (has to use the boards 90% of the time) and has very little offensive instincts. I personally see a #5 defenceman at best who could play some PK but not much more than that.

5.) 20 Jul 2016 04:34:51
The Jets are in no hurry to promote him to the big club. He has to bulk up and learn the pro game. He could be a stud or a dud but giving the Jets draft record he could be a keeper.

6.) 20 Jul 2016 12:18:07
Has some good tools, he's huge obviously and from what I've seen skates well for a big guy. I don't see him being anything to special but he has a cannon of a shot already. I'd say his ceiling is a top 4 D, floor would be top AHL pairing. I'd project him to be a solid top 6.

13 Jul 2016 02:44:24
George McPhee hired as Las Vegas GM.

Discuss....

Just to confirm:

TysonBarrie2 IS my other account. There is just some problems with this one.

2.) 13 Jul 2016 10:05:49
Problems like what? I know for some reason none of my last 3-5 posts/ replies have actually gone through, not sure if my acc is bugged or what.

3.) 13 Jul 2016 14:48:05
It's because they are blocking you for aggressive post.

06 Jul 2016 06:13:25
Watch the Leaf fans make Nolan Patrick seem like ''generational talent'' if they get the 1st overall.

smh.

McDavid is generational talent.

Matthews isn't.

ok?
ok.

I know y'all are ass-hurt that you lost the McDavid sweepstakes so you just declare every first overall you get ''generational'' talent.

-Sincerely, every other hockey fan.

TysonBarrie

1.) 06 Jul 2016 06:18:30
"And with the 1st selection of the 2017 draft, the Oilers are proud to select, from the Brandon Wheat Kings, Nolan Patrick"

"With the 2nd overall selection of the 2017 draft, the Leafs pick Timothy Lindgren"

2.) 06 Jul 2016 06:23:44
@BJ96

oh, oh, oh

the irony.

how i love the oilers.

3.) 06 Jul 2016 06:24:59
@BJ96

Who is Lindgren?

4.) 06 Jul 2016 08:22:03
No need to make appint about it we know that lol it's like when the leaf fans say that they will get Tavares's for free.

5.) 06 Jul 2016 11:28:37
@Tyson
Lindgren is projected to go in the top few picks. Some say he's an Ekblad type prospect. Should be interesting how he does this year. I'm going to follow him as much as I can.

6.) 06 Jul 2016 12:47:04
I don't think he's on Ekblads leval Ekblad is a generational talent IMO there is a generational talent of every position. I think he's on Erik Karrlsons leval.

7.) 06 Jul 2016 13:56:19
I believe it's spelled timothy liljegren.

8.) 06 Jul 2016 17:32:16
Tyson chill out buddy.

9.) 06 Jul 2016 18:54:33
"I know y'all are ass-hurt that you lost the McDavid sweepstakes so you just declare every first overall you get ''generational'' talent. "

the leafs franchise has had two first overall picks. edmonton has had four in a little over half a decade. i don't see how you can say "every first overall". that implies regularity, and there is no regularity in two occurrences in 30+ years.

maybe there are some people comparing matthews to mcdavid right now. they are stupid. starting further conversations around their stupidity just makes you look stupid with them. i kindly ask you to stop.

10.) 06 Jul 2016 22:24:32
bj bet you 20 bucks the leafs finish higher than the nucks this year, not that i want them too, i'd love me some nolan patrick.

11.) 06 Jul 2016 23:04:06
@Ovie
I wouldn't do that because I'd say the Leafs finish just outside the playoff picture and the Canucks will be in the bottem 5.

12.) 06 Jul 2016 23:35:17
Did chirp get banned too, is that why we are graced with the positive outlook from Tyson?

13.) 07 Jul 2016 14:25:06
not to long ago there was a lot of chatter about Toews being the best hockey player in the world. I don't think people every referred to him as a generational talent.

To shanks point, comparing individual players is an exercise in futility.

06 Jul 2016 06:11:49
I know that the 2016 Draft just ended but i am already drooling about Timothy Liljegren.

6ft
200Lbs
Right Handed Shot

Craig Button :

''Liljegren is a dynamic player capable of controlling the game and making a considerable impact both offensively and defensively. An outstanding skater with great sense and feel, he has a style similar to Drew Doughty with some Erik Karlsson offensive flair sprinkled in. ''

I don't want to toot my own horn here, but edmonton should get him :}}.

TysonBarrie

1.) 06 Jul 2016 11:29:26
Cal Foote would be even better for the Oilers imo. Lindgren will be an absolute stud though. He'll go in the top 3 next season.

2.) 06 Jul 2016 18:23:12
They said the same about Church you never know.

3.) 06 Jul 2016 19:28:15
@Bud.

What?

Church is no way near Timothy.

Different playing styles .

30 Jun 2016 03:30:47
In my opinion:

Larsson is like a Justin Faulk.

Signed for like the same prices, right handed shot, around the same in size .

Except why the Oilers paid in Taylor Hall was because he is signed through 2020 for just $4.3m

Also, i'm for real so excited.
Klefbom and Larsson being linemates. Klefbom left handed, Larsson right. Both Swedes.

=====================================

Montreal got robbed imo.

Weber is older and has more years on his contract.

=====================================.

TysonBarrie

1.) 30 Jun 2016 04:16:59
Fair points but at the end of the day. Faulk > Hall > Larsson.

2.) 30 Jun 2016 12:29:24
Kind of comical trying to see Edmonton fans justify this trade haha you guys got fleeced!

3.) 30 Jun 2016 16:33:20
Not completely. They got their top pairing right handed defenseman that they need, and he will get to play on a pairing with a fellow Swede, Oskar Klefbom.

4.) 01 Jul 2016 07:03:17
On another post, I queried about how long it would take for Edmonton fans and the Edmonton media to "anoint" Adam Larsson with the title of "Greatest Defenceman In The World. " Well, it didn't take long. Fentanyl and Codeine are like Skittles to the "Blue Kool-Aid" consuming Oiler fans. Junkies be junkies.
