With Thomas Chabot poor performance in orientation camp, you guys think he'll be traded.
Obviously not.
But, why not?
Ottawa is trying to get into the playoffs and Thomas Chabot can land them a good piece for their franchise.
Chabot was almost a point per game player in the QMJHL this year while playing good defensively.
Ottawas managment think that he'll challange for a starting spot this season, let's face it. He won't. Defencemen take longer to develop. No doubt he's a good defenceman, but he's not going to be effective in the NHL and that might crush his development.
Maybe a trade like this could work?

-Thomas Chabot
- Matt Puempel
Senators:
- Cam Fowler
- Jacob Silfverberg

This gives the Senators help on the offence and defence.
Ducks get a really good prospect. Also, they can now sign Hamphus Lindholm (if they didn't yet)
And they built up with depth in FA they can fill Silfverbergs spot easily.

McJesus they would trade him for that package Anahiem isn't trading Silverburg and Anahiem dose not need a D prospect. I'm from Saint John NB and I attended about 20 games this season and I will tell you every time he steps on the ice he makes a difference he was the best Dman in the Q easily. He has tremendous potential he can do anything on the ice. He is miles better then 13th overall pick Jakub Zbroil. You don't want to trade him but with that being said no one knows if his talent will translate into the NHL. There for he is not worth a young cheap top 6 forard and top 4 Dman.

I know that there are rumours going around that a trade might happen that is Virtanen for Yakupov straight up.
And i believe Benning thought about it and declined.
With Griffin Reinhart AND Nail Yakupov he fills 2 of his needs.
Forwards and defence.
Virtanen has the size and skill and plays a physical way which Peter Chiarelli likes.
And the second round pick is complimentary.
I know the value isn't here, but do you think Benning might accept?

Wooooow Oilers take that. I'm super high on Virtanen and I love the game he plays, fast, skilled, and grit. He's not afraid to throw his weight around and he's got plenty of skill. Just tough if Vancouver takes this. Love it on the Oilers end tho. Good trade considering what I said.

Ya sorry man I should have said a few things of why I think that. Something along the lines of Pickard has more value to Colorado than Niemi, especially with having Varlamov pickard is younger, cheaper and maybe their future they are hoping.
And those other two guys do not equal Barrie.
This would literally be a dream trade for Dallas. IMO.

UFA Old Vet for 1 year contract is the answer to Oilers D problem this year. Young D develops, re-address D next year or at Trade deadline when a good D-man costs only a 3rd round pick for a rental.

This is a legit rumor going around. Everyone knows oilers are going after Barrie. But yesterday it's said that the ducks are in on the talks too now.
Oilers send 2017 1st top 5 protected to ducks. Ducks send fowler to aves. Aces send Barrie to oilers.
Adding in yak to the pick is also mentioned because they ducks do have interest in him.
Ducks and aves are a internal cap team. Fowler 2 more years at $4M is a good fit for the aves.

What are your thoughts on Winnipeg's new prospect Logan Stanley?
Personally, i'm not a fan. The only thing i like about him his his size. But drafting for size has never turned out well.
I even thought that a player like Libor Hajek or Kale Clauge were better prospects than him.

His shot is ok and he's a solid skater for a guy his size (honestly kind of clonky IMO) . Solid defensive awareness with an active stick and some bite but struggles on the breakout (has to use the boards 90% of the time) and has very little offensive instincts. I personally see a #5 defenceman at best who could play some PK but not much more than that.

The Jets are in no hurry to promote him to the big club. He has to bulk up and learn the pro game. He could be a stud or a dud but giving the Jets draft record he could be a keeper.

Has some good tools, he's huge obviously and from what I've seen skates well for a big guy. I don't see him being anything to special but he has a cannon of a shot already. I'd say his ceiling is a top 4 D, floor would be top AHL pairing. I'd project him to be a solid top 6.

the leafs franchise has had two first overall picks. edmonton has had four in a little over half a decade. i don't see how you can say "every first overall". that implies regularity, and there is no regularity in two occurrences in 30+ years.

Except why the Oilers paid in Taylor Hall was because he is signed through 2020 for just $4.3m
