LA Kings acquire:
F Matt Duchene

CBJ acquire:
D Alec Martínez
F Jeff Carter

Kings would get a great winger and could afford to give Duchene the contract he wants. He would be the scoring help the kings need, would be the perfect fit for the first line. LA would be the perfect home for his family, I think the next team he joins will be his team for many years. He's now a dad and I could imagine he likes to stay in a city like LA.

Alec Martinez is experienced but not too old. He is great defensively, blocks a ton of shots (nearly always among top 5 in the league), knows how to win the cup, could adopt pretty good in Columbus. As we'll as Carter. He's still very good, just needs to get out of his comfort zone in LA.

CBJ gets two experienced players which they could use because their team is young.
Kings lose Carter's Bad contract and get a new star.

Duchene is not rfa u don't need to give nothing to get him. Just sign him to a contract he can't refuse.

so why would you give up 2 players to acquire him when you could just sign him for free in free agency?

I think about

LA Kings acquire:
F Matt Duchene

CBJ acquire:
F Jeff Carter
D Alec Martinez

Kings could afford to give Duchene a relatively big contract and lose two bad contracts. They get a great winger for the first line and some much needed scoring help.
CBJ gets an experienced Defender in Martinez but not too old, great defensively and knows how to win the cup as well as Carter. In my opinion he ist still great but needs a change to get out of his comfort zone. CBJ still has a bunch of younger players and need a good mixture of experience and young players.
What do you think?
