Anyways, Oilers don't need top 6 wingers at the moment. And I would freaking LOVE shattenkrik. I did read Oilers may be in a bidding war for him with CLB and Philly, and Oil at least offering up their 2016 1st. Imagine 1st year new arena, shattenkirk/Nurse, Sekera/Klefbom, Fayne/Reinhart extra: Gryba. Would be a dream right now.

I just don't get why anyone with 99% no idea of what's happening out there says a deal is "almost confirmed" and the deal never happens. Pure stupidity.
I still think it's a good deal. Can't remember who the prospect was you call a "bust" but he prolly wasn't one. Who was it?
Filppula would have given the Oilers a great #2/#3 center, that's experienced, won before and is superb defensively.
Carle would by then probably have been the best Oilers defenseman. Major upgrade for them, they're not in cap trouble, so gives them another solid veteran the kids can learn from. Plus a prospect, who I can't remember.
Solid return, IMO.

That is correct. If you want to pry a defenseman like shattenkirk from the blues you have to seriously overpay. End of story NO hockey trade here. If the kings ransom isn't paid then we keep him probably better off if we do. WHY would blues make any deal with him that doesn't make the blues instantly better?

I knew they wanted a shake up in the room but thought It would come with a new coach, Hitchcock was extended tho, and so now they are making a few moves to shake it up. I've read a few spots Shattenkirks name has been thrown around by the Blue, and OF COURSE Armstrong will turn those down because if he said it was true then everyone would know he is eager to trade him and this drives the value down. I read Oilers were winning a bidding war with Columbus and Philly because they were at least offering their 2016 1st round pick. It would be a huge mistake to trade Shattenkrk tho, yes I agree.

Talbot is worth less.
I don't know why everybody is so excited about Talbot.
Yes, he produced great numbers during the absense of the starting goalie.
But he was playing behind all-star defenceman. Ryan McDonah, Dan Girardi Yandle etc.
And he does not have that much expereince in the NHL.
