A much better player? Don't think that's true. Davidson would be a nice addition the Winnipegs left side. Who's behind Wheeler on the right wing? Yak might be a nice winger for Scheifele. Make the pick a 2nd and I don't think it's too far off.

Ebs - Larsson is nowhere near being a top pair dman. Trouba could be top pair on maybe every team in the league ( not Nashville off hand, maybe a couple others ) so thanks for coming out. And it will likely be Matt Perrault at RW2 and he is vastly superior to Yak, and so is Stafford.

Tin- Larsson WAS a top pair dman last year. Had the most defensive starts in the NHL and stayed there all year. Oh ya and he was first line PK and played over 20 a night. I would suggest he is and will be a top pairing guy on more than 70% of teams currently. He is just missing pts on the board in his resume which he recognizes himself and has the potential to change that.

Trouba is worth more than Davidson and Yak. Trouba would be Ed top line D-man while Davidson would be on the bottom pairing on the Jets. No chance the Jets do this trade.

Yakupov will not be the major piece in a trade for any Top Prospect. No team is taking that kind of gamble. If he is traded it will be for a similarly underperforming player. Wsh would certainly value a potential Top 4 Dman over a defensive liability goal scorer who is having trouble scoring goals. You think Trotz wants anything to do with Yakupov?

Personally, I somewhat welcome the deal. Absolutely it is an overpay but that is what free agency is about for top talent like Lucic, especially Edmonton. I do not like the term of the deal that will be announced and wish it was 5 years at $6.5 however and would even do $7 over 5 years.
Edmonton didn't create the overpay on July.1 nor will Lucic be the last top talented player to get overpaid in the future on July.1 - it's the way she goes' as Ray says.

This deal was apparently on the table last year and oilers said no. Not without a 2 or 3rd coming back to edmonton. Dumba is still not responsible enough in his own zone. IMO Nuge took a huge step forward this year.

Agree that galchenyuk could help make yak more comfortable. So far he is anything but. I will repeat, yak rows the boat out there, splashes around, makes a bunch of waves but the boat doesn't go anywhere.
