I think those trades are bad that the flames don't need holes in the lineup to get rid of players that will work this year and a couple prospects. Most of those players' contracts are up this year anyways.

At this point, there is no point in trading Wideman, instead, keep him as he has the capabilities to have a good season and get solid value back. There is no point in trading Smid, when his contract is going to be buried on the LIR, when to do so, you have to give of a solid prospect for nothing. MacDonald is a solid goalie prospect, no reason to give him up to get rid of a 4th liner. Engelland proved to be a capable 6th defenseman last year, no point in dumping him with only one year left on his contract. And finally no point in dumping Bouma when his value is at an all time low after an injury pagued season.

Edmonton had Lupul and it was a miracle they were able to get rid of him the first time. Thanx Philly.
Wideman is a penalty drawing machine with possible side show like Bertuzzi's court case as an off ice sideshow distraction that the Oil don't need. I'm afraid Calgary's stuck with him.
Edm would be better off keeping Fayne than having Wideman on the roster.
Edm would be better off having Pouliot than Lupul on the roster by far.
Good imagination, but this doesn't help Edmonton at all so I can't see this flying.

From the Jets perspective it's certainly enticing, could see them interested in Nurse, maybe also in Reinhart, both being LD prospects, both projects to a certain extent. I do not see them being interested in a depth forward though, but in terms of value it's close. I just don't know if Jacob Trouba is the answer for EDM, we just traded for a player just like him, great defense, decent-low offense. He wasn't slotted on Winnipeg's 1st PP Unit quarterbacking the Puck to the forwards and yet that's where he will be if he comes to Edmonton, because that's what they will expect of him, so there is certainly a risk to look at also.

Mcjesus- Trouba is big, physical, plays a plus game on a non playoff game and has good offensive upside. He's already played over 200 games and is less than a year older than Nurse. Nurse dominated in junior when he was so physically dominant. In the NHL he's still gifted physically but his glaring lack of hockey sense has been exposed.

But Trouba is not a stud. He averages 20 some points a year (not that I'm saying that's bad) but he really hasn't proven anything. He WILL be a stud, but he definitely is not one right now. And this trade is way overvalued for him. And he wants 6+ mil for money? Yeah right.

A nice trade proposal, It won't happen as the Oilers wouldn't give that package for Trouba as it gives up too much of the Oilers future. I think the best deal for Trouba would be a good young player and a 3rd pairing right shot d-man as after Buff, Myers and Trouba the Jets don't have a right shot d-man that is NHL ready unless someone steps up at training camp. Right shot d-men are hard to get.

WAY too much from Edm. No can do on this trade.
Nurse is way too valuable right now to trade as he's exempt from the Vegas draft.
Winnipeg is demanding way too much for Trouba in their position of weakness since he or Meyers have to go unprotected in the Vegas draft. The OIlers already have the 3 protected D on the roster and can't take another Dman until after the Vegas draft.
From the Oilers perspective they should just hold off and target Trouba or Meyers after Vegas takes one of them from Winnipeg for nothing.
After the Draft the ask for these players will be a lot more reasonable from Vegas.
Depending who Winnipeg chooses to protect.
Pouliot + 2017 conditional 1st for Trouba.
or
Pouliot straight up for Meyers from Vegas.
