Okay so I heard that Brock Nelson and Isles haven't had talks recently about hisnew contract and thought that maybe they'd be inclined to trade his RFA rights. If it happens to be true, imo Montreal should at least give it a try. ( this happens just before the training camp ).
MTL-NYI

MTL : Zach Fucale, Jarred Tinordi, 3rd Round pick 2017, David Desharnais (cap dump)

NYI : Brock Nelson, 5th Round pick 2016

I think that this trade could be useful for both teams, as Nelson might not resign with the Islanders and I'm sure that they prefer getting this return than to lose him via an hostile offer sheet. NYI gets Zach fucale who could replace Halak in 3-4 years and Tinordi who could have the same role ( while Reinhart is better ) that Griffin Reinhart had. They only take DD's contract because montreal will take on 3-3.5 millions in cap space when signing Nelson. Montreal gets a young player with good offensive upside and a 5th to make it fair. Then the Habs could offer something like :
5 years, 3.5 millions AAV

( If the Isles don't accept this trade, I think the Habs should still offer him a 3.5 millions AAV contract, as their penalty would only be a 2nd round pick. )

Galchenyuk-Nelson-Gallagher

Thoughts?

1.) 30 Aug 2015 17:12:41
So, no quality for someone that is a pretty important part of the isles forward group. Would MTL take 5 random pieces for Gallagher?

2.) 30 Aug 2015 17:38:32
Why would the Isles take a cap dumb? Let alone a center and Desharnais?

Pretty sure Isles would easily match 3.5m per.

3.) 30 Aug 2015 22:32:10
Why on earth does every hab fan think packaging their problem players together gets them each teams best players?

4.) 30 Aug 2015 22:48:32
Hold on Now Shank Nelson ain't that great gallagher could fetch a lot more then him

trades for habs this season :

(if alexei emelin doesn't play well)
MTL-FLA

mtl : Alexei Emelin, 6th round pick
fla : Willie Mitchell, 5th round pick

breakdown : I think the only way to get rid of Emelin's contract is to trade him for another player with a high cap-hit but, while Emelin is the better player, Mitchell is an UFA at the end of the season.

(at the training camp if pateryn earns a
roster spot)
MTL-PIT

mtl: Gilbert ( 900 000 retained )
pit: 3rd round pick, 5th round pick

Breakdown : Pittsburgh needs help on defense and Montreal might not need Gilbert if Pateryn is better than him, which will probably happen.

(If Eller plays well at the training camp)
MTL-FLA

mtl: Thomas Plekanec
fla: Jayce Hawryluk, 2nd round pick, 4th round pick

Breakdown : This trade could help the Panthers a lot by giving them a legit 1st or 2nd line center. Also, Plekanec could have a great chemistry with Jagr. Montreal gets a good prospect, and two picks. The only thing that I don't know is if the Habs would trade Plekanec to a team within their division.

Finally (posted it yesterday but needed some changes)
MTL-ARI

mtl: Zach Fucale, David Desharnais, 2nd round pick.
ari: Mikkel Boedker

taking out Tinordi so the value is quite fair.

Lineup ;

Paccioretty - Galchenyuk - Semin
Boedker - Eller - Gallagher
Weise - De La Rose - Kassian
Flynn - Mitchell - Smith-Pelly

Markov - Subban
Beaulieu - Petry
Tinordi , Barberio - Pateryn

Montreal's cap hit : approx. 62 500 000

Just some ideas ahah doubt it will happen

Nicp57

1.) 21 Aug 2015 19:14:14
Think the Panthers have more than enough depth at C with Barkov, Bjugstad, Bolland and others.

20 Aug 2015 16:14:37
Since Mikkel Boedker is an RFA at the end of the year, I think the Habs could target him :

MTL-ARI

Mtl : Z. Fucale, J. Tinordi, 2nd round pick 2016, D. Desharnais ( cap dump)

Ari : M. Boedker

Breakdown :

Fucale would be the Coyotes' best goalie prospect, while Arizona also gets a Tinordi who, while a little disappointing, could become a top-4 or 6 shutdown defenseman if he gets a better opportunity. The pick makes the value quite fair and DD goes to the Coyotes for cap issues.
Montreal gets a top-6 left-winger who can play on the 2nd line, and they can then move Galchenyuk to center.

Lines :

Patch-Galchenyuk-Semin
Boedker-Plek-Gally
Weise-Eller-Kassian
Bournival-Mitchell-Flynn

thoughts?

1.) 20 Aug 2015 17:51:26
Good trade value, maybe change the 2nd to a 4th. Domi, Duclair, Strome, Fucale, etc might as well call the Yotes Team Canada lol

2.) 20 Aug 2015 17:56:19
Montreal gives up to much for a UFA.
He would get similar to what Vermette got.

Maybe Eller, Fucale, 2nd BUF.

3.) 20 Aug 2015 18:11:37
Way to much for a rental guy. that is what.? A 20 goal guy.?

4.) 20 Aug 2015 18:13:11
Not rfa just fa

5.) 20 Aug 2015 20:07:00
Maybe Fucale, Tinordi, 3rd/4th would be a little better. Boedker is not that bad. So maybe with a signing guarantee this could happen a lot easier.

6.) 21 Aug 2015 02:53:50
I think it's a good trade. Good post.

08 Aug 2015 15:17:15
If the Islanders are out of the playoffs at the deadline or can't sign Okposo to an extension :
Mtl : Fucale, Tinordi, Desharnais (dump), 2017 3rd conditionnal, if he signs becomes a first,

Nyi : Okposo

Nicp57

1.) 08 Aug 2015 16:41:21
or they could trade him for some quality maybe?

2.) 09 Aug 2015 01:25:56
Or maaaaaybe they could get some actual value for him. Not a pile of horse dung

3.) 09 Aug 2015 02:39:36
Another classic thinking of quantity = quality. Islanders laugh, nice try.

4.) 09 Aug 2015 17:46:53
Habs say no

01 Aug 2015 16:55:48
absolutely no chance that it happens but would it be fair?

Nsh : Weber, 1st 2016, C. Sissons

Tbl : Stamkos, D. Blujus

Nicp57

1.) 01 Aug 2015 18:47:54
Value is good. Elite Foward for elite Dman. Stamkos will end up making around same as Weber with new contract. Probably no chance it happens but I like it

2.) 01 Aug 2015 22:55:25
@BJ

Stamkos will be making 12 million + AAV (cap hit) on his new deal. Weber cap hit is 7.85. Weber's signing bonuses are almost complete from my understanding, thus he will be much cheaper than Stamkos. Besides, I don't see the trade going through regardless; Stammer is much younger and is arguably the second best player in the world right now.

Who would you rather choose :
Mantha / Baertschi
T. Hertl / Yakupov
Hogdson / Kassian
Tinordi / Petrovic
Skinner / Toffoli
Myers / Bogosian
Schultz / Gardiner

Nicp57

1.) 03 Sep 2015 19:23:06
Mantha
Tough, I like both, guess Yakupov
Hodgson
Petrovic
Toffoli, because if Skinners injuries
Both are good, can't decide
Neither? Both are terrible defensivley

2.) 03 Sep 2015 20:45:27
Mantra
Yakupov underrated grit
Kassian
Petrovic
Toffolli what Draisaitl said
Myers easily. I think he is going to break out under Maurice
Gardiner I just feel he is a better player

3.) 03 Sep 2015 23:47:38
Mantha
Yakapov
Hodgson
Tinordy
Skinner for sure
Myers easily
Gardiner for sure

4.) 04 Sep 2015 02:20:59
the only one that isn't close for me is the first one i'd easily take mantha the rest are pretty even I would rather have kassian over hodgson because they are both inconsistent but at least kassain has good size and I would take toffoli over skinner the rest are a wash

02 Sep 2015 23:31:59
If you had to choose 3 of these, what would be your choices?

A. Palat-Johnson-Kucherov
B. Hall-Mcdavid-Draisaitl
C. Landeskog-Duchene-Mackinnon
D. Gaudreau-Monahan-Bennett
E. Girgensons- Eichel-Reinhart
F. Jenner-Johansen-Saad

Nicp57

1.) 03 Sep 2015 04:22:03
A or B

2.) 03 Sep 2015 05:02:25
1) B McDavid
2) C second most potential + having a playmaker, sniper and powerforward combo doesn't hurt
3) A triplets already have amazing chemistry

3.) 03 Sep 2015 08:42:16
A and B for sure, can't decide between C and D then

4.) 03 Sep 2015 09:25:01
B, C, A, D, F, E

5.) 03 Sep 2015 15:59:33
I'd say
1.b.
2.C
3.d
4.A
5.E
6.F

6.) 03 Sep 2015 18:35:28
I would choose b with c as a close 2nd

27 Jul 2015 23:26:30
If you look at the facts, Bozak shouldn't be worth more than Desharnais. Bozak had 49 points with kessel, just like desharnais had 48 points with patch. Yeah, obviously DD is a lot smaller, but Bozak's contract is worse than Desharnais'. Thoughts?

Nicp57

1.) 28 Jul 2015 06:08:10
I would personally Take Bozak over DD without contracts coming into play. Still would rather not have either on my team though.

02 Jul 2015 22:06:52
Do you think that the canadiens could target blake wheeler? If so what would it take?

Nicp57

1.) 03 Jul 2015 13:25:22
Can't see Winnipeg parting with Wheeler. However I would imagine it would take Gallagher and a good prospect

2.) 03 Jul 2015 14:54:40
Ya. would be pretty tough to get Wheeler. would rather see them try and get a Center. which I don't think is gonnahappen either. And I wouldn't trade Gallagher for him. Wheeler may be more offensively talented . but ya can't replace the heart of Gallagher. If the Habs had 2 or 3 more guys that put it all on the ice like him. they may jus be closer to winning it all.

I don't think montreal would retain that much. Maybe 35% retained but add Andrighetto. Overall good deal.

1. Bad trade for Tor and Mtl

2. Potential to play on 2nd line for a 4th? How is 800 000 / 1 year a bad contract?

3. Habs need offence. Not more d.

Yeah because in his 3rd NHL season he will be playing with stamkos/Killorn/Filpulla, and get a lot of powerplay time. Galchenyuk doesn't have the same opportunities, and what he's stuck behind is mostly the coach, who doesn't want to give him a real opportunity at center, with Pacioretty and, say, Semin. Becaus eif it was the case, he'd have gotten more than 46 points in his 3rd Nhl season.

Please stop thinking that Galchenyuk is that bad of a player! I'm not saying he's better than everybody but you really think he will be a 3rd liner? He's already a 2nd liner, and could become a 1st line center if he gets the opportunity. Maybe in 5 years we can reflect on if he was a bust or not but for now I only see a young, full of talent player that's ready to explode if he gets more mature. don't underrate him. because for now Drouin isn't better ( while having played with stamkos quite a lot ) and you're all saying that Drouin is worth so much
