No thanks from leafs. Domi has potential to be much better but I’m not sold enough on him to trade a good top 4 D (when that's where we are thin), a 1st and 2 capable young players for him. Maybe a cpl young players who are less proven than him. Or a prospect and a pick, but even then I’m just not sure of the fit. Leafs are stacked on the wing and he has shown he’s not a real good centre at this level. I like the nostalgia of the domi connection, but sometimes you got to just look past that for the good of the team.

Plus if you trade all that and he doesn’t pan out you look dumb. If you trade all that and he puts up really good numbers, now you have to pay Matthews, marner, nylander and domi and still have a soft back end?!

I believe this trade make sense even though there rivals. Toronto needs defense immediately and Ottawa needs to rebuild.

That offer would get blown out of the water by half the league. And usually to trade with a rival costs more. For instance if vegas had an offer for Karlsson of a, b and c, Ottawa would go to Toronto and say if you want him it will take a, b, c AND d. Otherwise he goes west.
