A few Flames proposals.

1.
to Detroit
Dennis Wideman, D (retained 30%)
Ben Hanowski, LW

to Calgary
Detroit's 2015 2nd Round Draft Pick
Zach Nastasiuk, RW

Detroit gets a Right Handed Defenceman which is desperately needed. Wideman plays well with young defenceman whcih the Wings have an abundance of. Wideman with 30% retained ($3,675,000 AAV) is good value. He's a top four defenceman in the league and was our 2nd best defenceman last year until his injury. Red Wings still have 2 million in cap space. Nastasiuk was the 48th overall pick last year. The Flames desperately need RWers and power. Zach brings both. He has a strong work ethic and a high I.Q. Hanowski is a very solid prospect. He'd be one of Calgary's best prospect if it wasn't for his speed or lack thereof. This is pretty much

Wideman =2nd
Hanowski = Nastasiuk

2.
to Toronto
Detroit's 2015 2nd round Draft Pick
Calgary's 2016 5th Round Draft Pick

to Calgary
Cody Franson, D
Tyler Biggs, RW

Cody Franson just signed his 3rd straight 1 year deal which means there's not a lot of faith and he's not in their long term plans. And Freidman reported that Franson is still on the block and Calgary is very interestd. The Leafs save cap room and they haven't really had any for a few years. They also get a 2nd round pick which in a stacked draft is worth more. It also helps the Flames that the Leafs have no second round pick for the second year in a row. The Flames get their 2nd Right Handed Defenceman on their roster (Deryk Engelland being the first). Biggs was a first round pick in 2011. However he scored 9 points in the AHL last year and was brutal at every aspect. Flames would a be smart to get a guy who's value is low

3.
to Montreal
David Jones, RW (retained 50%)
Calgary's 2015 5th Round Pick

to Calgary
Travis Moen, LW
Dalton Thrower, D

Habs get a solid 3rd liner and added size. Jones still has potential to be a 25 goal scorer again. Flames get a solid D prospect who'd become their 2nd/3rd best D prospect. He's even a righty and plays a physical game. He's behind 4-5 guys in Montreal like Beaulieu, Ellis, Tinordi, Nygren and Pateryn. Moen will be our 13/14th forward and provide truculence and leadership for our young guys.

4.
Sign
Dustin Penner, RW: 1 year, $1,500,000
Jamie McBain, D: 1 year, $1,000,000
Kevin Hayes, RW: ELC, 2 years $925,000 with $2,250,000 bonus
Aaron Palushaj, RW: AHL contract, 1 year 400k
Corey Locke, C: AHL contract, 2 years 375k
Matt McKenzie, D: AHL contract, 1 year 250k
Charles Olivier-Roy, D: AHL contract, 1 year 200k
Grayson Downing, RW: AHL contract, 2 years, 100k

1.) I don't think it would me good idea to give up on bigs just yet

2.) Where is Benett?

3.) 02 Aug 2014 12:25:48
To habs: bufylien, bogosian and kane
To jets: tokarski and subban

4.) I like the MTL Deal

5.) 03 Aug 2014 07:11:01
Only way franson deal happens is if franson plays mediocre and granberg plays very well.

6.) You would not get Thrower for that player. Try adding Glencross.

A couple Flames trade ideas

TOR: Byron, Wideman
CGY: Franson, Reimer

Or

ARZ: Hudler
CGY: Stone, 3rd

SJS: Olivier Roy
CGY: Havlat, 2015 3rd/4th

Then

DET: Granlund, Hanowski, Ramage
CGY: Sproul

After a few signings

Glencross - Backlund - Vrbata
Baertschi - Stajan - Hudler
Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne
Reinhart - Bouma - Bolig
McGrattan, D. Jones

Or

Glencross - Backlund - Vrbata
Baertschi - Stajan - Havlat
Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne
Reinhart - Bouma - Bolig
McGrattan, D. Jones

Brodie - Giordano
Smid - Franson/Stone
Russell - Fayne/Stralman
Gilbert

Ramo
Reimer/Johnson

1.) Havlat was bought out and monahan will be at least 2nd c if not 1st

2.) The last two season under Hartley has told us lines will change a lot. So at times he will get 2nd line minutes at times he won't. Although if that line stays it'd be almost all offensive zone starts for them.

Sign maybe Gionta or trade for Caron or Morin

3.) Monahan won't play on the 3rd line, he was playing top 6 most of the season this year. Also the Flames shouldn't sign a few plugs this year, they should just let some young players play and draft high next year. Signing old veterans won't do them any good, I think they can learn from their mistakes in the past 5 years.

4.) Or learn from the Oilers mistakes. Burke and Trelivng have made it clear they wantto speed up the re-build. This team is good enough to compete and play good hockey like last year but abd enough for a top 8 pick. Monahan played a lot on the 3rd line behind Stajan. I'm not giving Hudler 3rd line minutes and I'm not giving Johnny or Colborne 2nd line minutes yet

Tanev could fetch a late first but not an early or mid one.

Edler could get much more than a 4th

6th or 7th for Burrows after his year

CBJ laughs

Markstrom isn't worth a 3rd anymore

CGY has no need for Hansen and they don't have a 4th but the Nucks could get a 4th for him elsewhere

^ Backlund's already a 2c, he'll be playing on the first line for Calgary this season but on an okay team he's a 2c. And The Hawks are in cap hell. A 4th and 5th would do fine.

That CGY trade is ridiculous. Trading Backlund won't happen because Monahan isn't ready for 1st line C, Stajan isn't good enough. He's the best player in the trade and the trade would mean 8 NHL Dmen. Also sending down Lindholm is ridiculous. He had a great year. As good as Monahan
