Totally thinking outside the box here BUT
why not try to get Eric and Jordon Staal ( and jared)
out of Carolina.
Package something like Phanuef, Kadri, Bozak and a pick 1st or 2nd in 2015--2016
Salaries are basically a wash.
1-2 Center punch and how good would Kessel and JVR do with the leaf killer E Staal

Leafs sign MArk Fayne is the rumour out there
Solid puck moving big D man -- Bye to Franson
Also then will have Reilly and Fayne to move the puck.
Allows the leafs some options with Gardiner
Move him out of Toronto or ( best idea) try to convert him to a winger. he did play it in his younger years.
His speed and vision can be a great replacement for a Mason Raymond s spot.
It would be a a decent start of a much larger overhaul
I guess the biggest question out there is does Nonis have the cahounas to make the big trade.

So the buds signed a 37 year old defenceman
who played less than 1/2 of the games last year.
BRUTAL
They sign Komorov --Awesome
Now they need to sign Dustin Penner
They need NHL bodies they don't have enough players at this point
1.) Robidas will really help the D if he stays healthy but the guy is like 37 and broke his leg twice last season. may still have a year maybe 2 left in him but that 3rd year of the contract is going to be a real pain in the you know what
2.) Yea the dude only had a broken leg which caused him to miss that many games.
3.) It was a freak injury he will be good to pair with reily or gardiner and he's righthand shot which we needed
4.) Hopefully Robidas can hold the fort until some kids are ready to go

Leafs have not had a power forward since well who knows Gary Roberts
Instead they picked one of the smallest players in the draft.
I guess we will see
1.) I like the pick personally. The leafs lack prospects with high-end offensive talent and have a lot prospects with size (Ashton, Biggs, Gauthier to name a few). Outside of Connor Brown (who may not put up the same type of numbers in the majors) there isn't anyone you would say is a game breaker. As long as the leafs don't rush him/fans remain realistic about his time frame, he could be that guy.

Leafs need to resign Komorov
Never has a 9 point NHL player ever been more important to a team.
His 176 hits in 42 games.
3 of his 4 goal GWG.
When he was on the ice everyone took notice.
He didn't care what the name was on the back of the jersey he hit you hard
and he was excelelnt at killing PK

There would have been no way the goon that attacked Kessel would have been able to inflict harm to him. Everyone on the ice would have seen to that. Clarkson jumping in was stupid it messed up his entire season. not a good choice at all by him.
He has totally not played anywhere near his style of game like he did in NJ.
His doing or the coaches in trying to re define his role dunno but let him get his feet wet this year but as that nasty awful 3rd liner he was like in NJ
If it doesn't work again then send him to Edmonton ( they almost signed him last year)
But to say he jumping off the bench was a good thing NO NO NO
