I feel, if the Leafs can trade Phaneuf, they will try to signa big name UFA defenceman, I hope Franson

Don't think Franson wants to go back to Toronto after having a taste of what it's like to be on a good team.

Franson will most likely sign for 5+ million for 5 or 6 years. If i'm the leafs I wouldn't want to sign him and it doesn't sound like they are going to try to. They view Franson as a decent second pairing guy that can play on the power play. On the Preds right now he is their fourth dman playing behind Weber, Jones, and Josi. In order to build a better team Toronto can't spend the kind of money a top pairing guy should get on a guy like Franson he's just not strong enough in his own end to be a top pairing guy.

I hope they don't sign franson, he will get overpaid in FA.

And besides they already have a franchise defenseman his name is Morgan Reilly.

Leafs shouldn't do any more stuiped FA signings. Build through smart trades and the draft.

They weren't that far apart on an extension. Not sure that means they bring him back in the summer. He wanted to stay before he was traded, so I doubt where they finish is all thatch of a concern to him.
